Happy Cultural Sunday...
Let me ask oh, What's culture to you?
Our Culture does not Stop us from Worshipping God....
Igbo culture is a rich tapestry of values, history, and deep communal bonds. It is more than just language, food, and attire; it is the heartbeat of our identity, a living tradition passed from generation to generation, anchored in respect, unity, and the fear of God.
Today, as we celebrated Cultural Sunday in church, it was more than just a showcase of attire and dance; it was a sacred fusion of heritage and worship. We didnβt just wear our culture, we worshipped through it. Seeing our elders, youth, and children come together in unity, draped in our vibrant isi-agu, gele, akwete, and traditional regalia, reminded me of the beauty in who we are as a people.
The songs hit deeper. The prayers echoed stronger. The dances felt freer. It was as if heaven leaned in to listen to a people embracing their roots and offering their worship in the fullness of their identity.
Cultural Sunday reminds us that our culture, when submitted to God, becomes a powerful tool of praise. That we do not have to abandon our identity to be spiritual; rather, we can be proudly Igbo and unapologetically Christian. Itβs in our proverbs, our songs, our ways of honouring elders, and our deep sense of family and community.
Today was a reminder that there's glory in our heritage. That God delights in the uniqueness of every tribe. That heaven hears the drumbeat of igba, the rhythm of our claps, and the ululation of our joy and smiles.
May we never forget who we are, and Whose we are.
