TOPIC: THE LANGUAGE OF THE CHURCH
(USEM UFOK ABASI)
TEXT: EPHESIANS 4:29
INTRODUCTION: Every group of people has a language that identifies them. The church also has a language - not merely the words, language we speak, but the attitudes, expressions and conduct that reveals that we belong to a church which Christ is the head.
What is church? Church is not just the building, chairs, doors, walls because these things can talk but church are the call ones from the world, world.
Matthew 16:18 => "I will build my church" --- Christ is the builder of the church and we're the living stones that make up house.
* The language of the church should be different from the language of the world.
* A Christian should not only look like a Christian but should speak like a Christian.
Matt. 12:34 => "for out of abundance of the heart the mouth speaketh"
What comes out from our mouth reveals what is inside our heart.
THE LANGUAGES OF THE CHURCH ARE:
1) The language of love.
Jesus commanded His people John 13:34-35
* Instead of insulting people, we should encourage them
* Instead of destroying people with our words, we should build them up.
* Instead of speaking against one another, we should pray for one another.
Example: Barnabas means the son of consolation / Encouragement Acts 4:36
2) The language of faith.
Speak, believe, even in difficult circumstances: thus
* God is able
* God will make a way
* I will not give up
* The Lord is with me
* I believe God's word.
This does not mean that we deny problem
Example: David & Goliath 1st Sam 17:45
3) The language of prayer: The early church was a praying church.
Acts 4:31
* Instead of saying there's no hope Say "let us pray"
* Instead of spreading fear we should seek God
* Instead of complaining continually, We should take our concern to the Lord.
Philippians 4:6
4) The language of praise.
Ps 34:1
* The church should be people of praise even when things are difficult we can still praise God because He remains faithful.
