ENUC POSSIBILLITY MINISTRIES PRESENTS WHEELCHAIR TO FIELD AHEAD OF AWARENESS SABBATH.

A wheelchair has been presented to the Adventist Possibility Ministries (APM) of the Port Harcourt West Conference (PHWC) by the leadership of the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC), in recognition of the field’s consistent communication, advocacy, and active role in promoting inclusion within the Church.

The presentation took place on Friday, 17 April 2026, at the ENUC headquarters.

Speaking at the event, the ENUC President, Pastor Onyebuchi Thomas Opara, praised the team performance within the period, their contribution to the visibility and growth of the ministry across the Union.

He also stressed that the ministry should not be driven by competition, but by service.

“What we are seeing here is impact based. We appreciate your commitment and how it hhas strengthened the work of Adventist Possibility Ministries and inspired others across the Union.”

“This is not about competing with one another, It is about serving with love, passion, and dedication. When we do that, the results will speak for themselves, he avers.

Receiving the wheelchair on behalf of PHWC, the Conference APM Director, Pastor Confidence Ebenezer, expressed appreciation to the Union leadership, describing the gesture as both encouraging and timely.

“We are truly grateful for this support, this will not only assist our work but also motivate us to do more in serving persons with disabilities.”

Also speaking, El-dad Monu encouraged leaders and members to maintain the current momentum and continue building on the progress already made.

A LET’S TALK SESSION: FINDING SOLUTIONS TO COMMUNICATION CHALLENGES

The conversation shifted on Day Two of the ENUC Communication Summit as Union leaders and communication directors sat face-to-face for a refreshing and open session titled “Let’s Talk:
Surmounting the Challenges in Communication.” It was a rare moment set aside not just to speak, engage, and address real concerns shaping communication work across the fields.

The session featured the union President, Pastor Onyebuch Thomas Opara, alongside Pastor Dr. Anyalebechi Nnunukwe, Sister Blacky Obolo, Mrs. Jane Horace, and Pastor Smart Maduagu, who sat with participants to listen, respond, and provide guidance on pressing issues affecting communication work across the fields.

In a calm and open setting, Directors and Leaders freely spoke about the challenges they are facing. They talked about issues like lack of proper structure, limited funds, inadequate training, poor teamwork, and the struggle to carry out communication plans at the local level.

In response, the Union leaders listened carefully and gave clear answers, direction, and encouragement on many of the issues raised. Everyone was encouraged not to give up despite the challenges. The leadership stressed the need for better teamwork, proper planning, and stronger support to help communication work move forward.

They also emphasized unity, reminding everyone that communication should not be done in isolation. Instead, all Conferences must work together with one mind and one purpose to support the mission of the Church.

More importantly, the discussion helped many participants change their mindset from focusing only on problems to looking at solutions and new opportunities for growth.

By the end of the session, there was a fresh sense of hope and responsibility among the communication director.

CALLED TO BE DISTINCT: UNION PRESIDENT INSPIRES COMMUNICATORS TO RISE

By Raphael Adindu

At the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC) Communication Summit held for Directors and Associates, the Union President, Pastor Onyebuchi Thomas Opara, delivered a powerful and eye-opening message that got everyone thinking differently about communication in the Church.

Speaking in simple but strong terms, he challenged communicators to “wear a new lens”, to begin to see their role in a way they have never done before. According to him, communication in the Church is not just about announcements or covering events. It is about “marketing the Church” and clearly presenting the message God has given to His people.

Using the Bible text from 1 Peter 2:9, he reminded everyone that they are “a chosen generation… a peculiar people”, meaning they are not ordinary. They are set apart for a special assignment.

To explain this better, he gave a relatable example. He said in a king’s palace, there are many instruments, but when danger comes, it is the trumpet that is used—because its sound is clear and cannot be mistaken.

“You are that trumpet,” you are not common, but consecrated. You are called to sound a clear message. We are like watchmen and light bearers, given the responsibility to share God’s end-time message the Three Angels’ Messages with the world, he declared.

Speaking about today’s world, Pastor Opara pointed out that communication has gone beyond the pulpit. Social media platforms, digital networks, and online communities are now part of the mission field. He also encouraged communicators to rise and take their place, saying communication must lead the continent’s spiritual awakening.

“Our platforms are our pulpits, every post you make should preach, very message should point people to Christ. We must not just react to situations, we must be proactive, intentional, and purposeful in everything we do, he added.

He warned against using media for the wrong reasons, urging everyone to use it for mission, unity, and hope not distraction or destruction.

“WE ARE IMAGE BUILDERS,” - EKPOR TEMPLE CHARGES

By Trust Ama

Communication Directors and associates from various local conferences have been urged to recognize their vital role as “image builders” of the Church.

This charge was given by the ENUC Communication Director of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Ekpor Temple, on April 16, 2026, during the opening session of the Communication Directors/Associates Advisory/Leadership Summit at the Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC) Headquarters, Aba.

In his presentation, titled “Understanding Adventist Communication Ministries,” the director emphasized that communication leaders serve as the visible voice, lens, bridge and identity of the Church, both within and beyond the faith community. He noted that every message plays a role in shaping public perception.

“We are image builders; the way we present the Church determines how the world understands our mission and values," he opines.

He reiterated the importance of intentional storytelling and responsible media engagement, reminding participants that their role extends beyond sharing information to shaping perception and building trust.

And challenged participants to embrace professionalism, accuracy, and intentionality, stressing that communication goes beyond information dissemination or photo coverage.

The advisory, which has brought together communication leaders from across the union, with the theme “Distinct By Purpose,” will run from April 16 to 19, 2026.

RIVERS WEST-CENTRAL COMMUNICATION CONVENTION LEAVES STRONG VISION FOR MEDIA GROWTH

The Rivers West-Central Conference Communication Ministries Convention, held at the church headquarters in Abarikpo, Ahoada East Local Government Area, has come to a close but not without leaving behind lasting impressions and renewed energy for communication and mission advancement.

The four-day gathering, which ran from 8–11 April 2026, was held under the inspiring theme "Engage, Innovate, Inspire.” It brought together more than 120 registered delegates, alongside strong ministerial participation from across the Conference.

The convention served as a learning and capacity-building platform, featuring experienced facilitators and resource persons, including the ENUC Communication and Media Director, Ekpor Temple; Strategic Director Azukoye Amadi; Associate Director Charles Nwuzor; as well as Justice Itiegwe, Jephtha Ekpor, and Godbless Samuel, among others.

Each facilitator handled different aspects of the communication ministry, such as strategic communication planning, media engagement, Branding and identity, and reporting skills to improve mission visibility in the field.

One of the most memorable moments of the convention was the symbolic installation of the Conference signpost at the headquarters in Abarikpo. The President of the Rivers West-Central Conference, Pastor Eze Robinson, alongside ENUC Communication Director Ekpor Temple, pastors, and communication leaders, jointly led the installation, an act widely seen as a bold step in strengthening identity and visibility for the Conference.

Participants described the sessions as practical, eye-opening, and highly relevant to modern church communication needs. Speaking briefly with ENUC press, some registered delegates expressed joy over the convention, describing it as a turning point for communication ministry in the Conference.

One delegate noted, “This programme has opened our eyes to new ways of doing communication. It will change how we report and share the mission going forward.”

Another participant added, “When I registered for this programme, I didn’t believe it would be this big and exciting. I am confident to say that we are leaving here more equipped. "This is the beginning of something bigger for our conference," she said.

ABA SET TO HOST GAME-CHANGING ENUC COMMUNICATION LEADERSHIP SUMMIT

The Eastern Nigeria Union Conference (ENUC) will, from Thursday, 19 April 2026, host its annual Communication Ministries Leadership Summit at the Union Headquarters in Aba.

The summit will bring together Communication Directors and their associates from the Union’s 18 Fields for intensive training and strategic engagement aimed at strengthening church communication across the territory.

The Union Director of Communication/Media, Ekpor Temple, says the initiative is designed to equip leaders with relevant skills and insights to effectively respond to emerging trends in media and ministry.

“This summit is about raising a new generation of communication leaders who are not only skilled but also strategic, able to tell the church’s story with clarity, consistency, and impact in a rapidly changing media space,” he said.

He noted that the summit will focus on key areas such as organizing and managing local church communication teams, implementing the ENUC Communication and Media Strategic Plan (2026–2030), news and data reporting, practical writing sessions, and understanding the Adventist brand identity system.

“These focus areas are carefully selected to ensure our communication leaders are not only organized and informed, but also equipped to deliver professional, consistent, and mission-driven communication across all levels of the church,” he added.

A major highlight of the summit will be a special session by the West-Central Africa Division (WAD) Communication Director, Abraham Bakari, who is expected to share key updates and provide broader perspectives on communication within the global church.

The event will also feature an Advisory Session, where field reports will be presented, critical issues discussed, and decisions taken to guide communication efforts across the Union.

With preparations in top gear, expectations are high that the summit will not only strengthen capacity but also reposition communication ministries for greater impact in soul-winning and church growth.
