OVERCOMING THE STORMS OF LIFE
TEXT:
Matthew 14:22-32.
Memory Verse:
“And He said, My presence shall go with thee, and I will give thee rest” (Exodus 33:14).
His Presence Makes The Difference!
* Life spins with unexpected changes every hour.
* Take every change and experience as a challenge for growth.
* Finding peace and happiness in life does not mean to be in a place where there is no noise, no challenges, and no hard work. It means abiding in God’s presence.
* The biggest disappointments in our lives are often the result of misplaced expectations. Psalm 121
There are several assurances we can rest on during the storms of life:
1). God brought me here:
Jesus was in the boat with them. (Matthew 8:23-27).
2). He is praying for me.
Jesus is in heaven making prayers for us. (Romans 8:34, “Who is he that condemneth? It is Christ that died, yea rather, that is risen again, who is even at the right hand of God, who also maketh intercession for us”.
He saw the disciples and knew their situation and their fears.
(Mark 6:48).
3). He knows our needs:
He knows what we are going through (Hebrews 4:14-16, “Seeing then that we have a great high priest, that is passed into the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold fast our profession. For we have not an high priest which cannot be touched with the feeling of our infirmities; but was in all points tempted like as we are, yet without sin. Let us therefore come boldly unto the throne of grace, that we may obtain mercy, and find grace to help in time of need”.
4). He will come to me:
John 14:18, “I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you”.
Often, we feel like Jesus has deserted us when we are going through the storms of life. But Jesus will never leave us comfortless.
5). He will help me grow:
This was the purpose of the storm. God wants me to grow. He uses storms to test my faith. Testimonies for victory over the storm. Victory is sure.
6). He will see me through:
Jesus will finish whatever He has started.
Philippians 1:6
Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
Food for Thought
The storms of life are not easy, but God is revealed to us in the midst of our storms.
Prayer
Lord, let your presence in my life drive out every spirit of this world, misery, pain, disappointment, failure, and everything that represents misfortune in Jesus name.
