Aba South Conference OYiM Department to Hold Special Sabbath, Launch Outreach to Umunneisii and Umuojioma community.

The One Year in Mission (OYiM) Department of the Seventh-day Adventist Church, Aba South Conference, will celebrate its Special Sabbath tomorrow, May 23, 2026, with an outreach focus on the Umunneisii and Umuojioma communities. The program will be led by Director Pr. MC Nwosu.

As part of the event, delegates representing various churches across the conference will carry out a coordinated fund promotion to support outreach efforts in the two communities.

OYiM, or One Year in Mission, is a global initiative of the Seventh-day Adventist Church that invites young adults aged 18 and above to dedicate a full year to full-time volunteer mission work. The program trains participants for service in urban and unreached areas, with an emphasis on urban evangelism, holistic community impact, and leadership development.

Key aspects include health seminars, charity work, discipleship, cross-cultural missions training, and Bible study teaching, all aimed at deepening spiritual growth while addressing practical needs. Teams also share the church’s “Three Angels’ Messages” as part of their outreach.

Tomorrow’s Special Sabbath is expected to rally support and mobilize members around the department’s mission to equip young people for active, long-term service in underserved areas.

“What if Seventh-day Adventists are wrong?”

“What if God doesn’t really care what day you worship Him?”

I’ve thought about that too, Yes many times.

Because if God truly doesn’t care—
then keeping the seventh-day Sabbath is still an act of love and obedience.

But what if He does care?

That changes everything.

Because the Sabbath was not invented by Adventists.

It was blessed at Creation.

“God blessed the seventh day and sanctified it.” (Genesis 2:3)

And in the Ten Commandments, God didn’t simply say,
“Worship Me whenever.”

He said,

“The seventh day is the Sabbath of the Lord your God.” (Exodus 20:10)

That is specific.

And Jesus never said,
“It no longer matters.”

In fact, He kept it.

His followers kept it.

And even after the cross,
they still rested
“according to the commandment.” (Luke 23:56)

And the Catholic Church is very bold to say they 'changed' the day of the worship.

Citing "whatever we bind on earth is bind in heaven"

They changed the day from Saturday to Sunday.

Just to be politically relevant in Rome, and for the growth of the church.

What if this 'act of change' was prophecied in the Bible.

Yes! It was mentioned that a political and religious power will think to change times and law.

"it does not matter," many learned Christians echo this statement.

So yes—people say,
“God knows my heart.”

I believe He does.

But love in the Bible was never separated from obedience.

“If you love Me, keep My commandments.” (John 14:15)

Which commandments? The commandments of freedom.

So my question became—

If God clearly blessed a day…
why would I assume He suddenly no longer cares about it?

Because this is bigger than a denomination.

It’s about whether we follow what God said—
or what became common.

And if God really did set apart the seventh day—
I don’t want to stand before Him and say I assumed it didn’t matter. 🙏🏻

Aba South conference Adventist Youth Ministry Celebrates World Adventurer Day with “Walking with Jesus” Theme.

The Adventurer Clubs in the various Churches of the conference joined Seventh-day Adventist congregations worldwide today in marking World Adventurer Day 2026, a global celebration dedicated to children ages 4 to 9.

Observed annually on the third Sabbath of May, this year’s event fell on May 16, 2026. The theme, _“Walking with Jesus,”_ focuses on building children’s faith and encouraging Christ-centered lives.

The theme draws from John 8:12: “I am the light of the world.”

During the Special Sabbath program, the Adventurer Club celebrated the children within the church and guided them in developing simple but meaningful spiritual habits through prayer, worship, and service.

The observance highlighted the church’s commitment to nurturing young children in faith from an early age, in line with the global Adventurer ministry’s mission.
