The ASF University of Calabar Chapter held a Cultural Sabbath on May 23rd, 2026. The event was themed โThreads of Faith: Weaving Culture into Worship,โ celebrating diverse cultural expressions within our faith and fostering unity.We featured a vibrant cultural showcase from multiple ethnic groups.
Delta Cultural Display: The Delta group presented songs, showcased their attire, highlighting their rich heritage.
Efik Cultural Display: The Efik group shared traditional music,their cultural food and immersing us in their culture.
Igbo Cultural Display: The Igbo display included traditional clothing, history of their ethnic group giving us a historical narrative.
Hausa Cultural Display: The Hausa group presented traditional songs and food, giving us a taste of their vibrant culture.
We also had a special gifts presentation, where members of the church exchanged symbolic gifts, fostering unity and friendship among us.
The sermon for the Cultural Sabbath was delivered by Pastor ๐๐๐ฑ๐ฐ๐๐ฅ๐ฅ ๐๐ค๐๐๐ก๐ฎ๐ค๐ฐ๐ฎ ๐๐ก๐ข๐๐ฆ๐๐ฅ๐ฎ. Drawing from ๐๐๐ฏ๐๐ฅ๐๐ญ๐ข๐จ๐ง 7:9, he emphasized the call to worship God and give glory to Him, rooted in a spirit of inclusivity. Pastor Maxwell urged us to embrace our cultural identities as gifts from God. He reminded us that culture is not to be used to oppress or divide, but rather to enrich worship and serve as a bridge for outreach.
The Cultural Sabbath was a resounding success, fostering a deeper appreciation for the diversity within our faith community. We thank everyone who participated and contributed to this memorable event
