On Sunday, 26 April 2026, the Catholic Varsity Students Ministry (CVS) of the Church of the Divine Mercy, Shah Alam (CDM), conducted its bi-annual Welcoming Gathering at St Faustina Hall. The event was organized to facilitate interaction between new and senior Catholic students studying at campuses under the pastoral care of CDM.
Most of the 200 students come from UiTM Shah Alam, UiTM Puncak Alam, UiTM Puncak Perdana, Xiamen University, HELP University, Management & Science University, Centexs, UOW, and various other IPTS located in Shah Alam.
The CVS Welcoming Gathering aims to introduce new students to the CVS Ministry at Divine Mercy Parish, Shah Alam, helping them find faith-based community, social support, and guidance for their Catholic growth. The Parish recognizes the importance of supporting young Catholics, especially those far from home, to ensure their welfare is fully taken care of, and also ease their adjustment to a new environment.
CDMβs Parish Priest, Rev Fr George Harrison, was present to personally advise the students. He also welcomed a group of international students from Indonesia and particularly those from Timor Leste, who attended this youth gathering for the very first time.
The Parish Pastoral Coordinator for CVS, Joseph Asim, and UiTMβs Senior Lecturer, Dr. Lovelyna Benedict Jipiu, were also in attendance to offer guidance on pastoral and academic concerns to the students, as well as to support the effective coordination of the entire program.
