Some of you may ask who is Grand Duke / Tai Sui?
The Grand Duke of Jupiter is also known as Tai Sui. He is one of the 60 celestial "generals" who will take turn on a rotation on a yearly basis, determining the annual destiny of human beings.

Our Prosperity, Health and Luck are under his jurisdiction. Each "general" serves as a reminder for us to take care of our own health and do charitable work. a person may go to the temple to worship Grand Duke / Tai Sui for safe travelling and daily commuting to and fro work or school. Especially those who commutes till late hours at night.

Note: Many people think that charitable works would means donation of money. Many people has misinterpreted this, charity can be of anything, those who has money can donate money. Those that do not have extra can still be charitable. You can donate your time to help those in needs, or donate your time to help at temple, orphanage home, old folks home etc as a volunteer. This is also charity :).

I understand some of you may want to cook the vegetarian noodles at home since coming to the temple this year is highly impossible due to the pandemic.

Please find below ingredients on how to prepare the vegetarian soup.

- Vermicelli (soak it)/Mee Sua (if you are using mee suah then no need to soak it as it is easily soften)
- Sh*take mushroom (wash, soak and shred it once it has soften)
- Yuk Chuk (Solomon Seal) - wash only
- Sugar cane (Black colour) - cut this into smaller pieces
- Tim Chuk (Fry this till golden brown, after which cut into strip and put this into the soup. This will make the soup tastes sweet)
- Red dates (Optional)
- Salt to taste

Garnishing
Chinese Lettuce - cut into strips
Sesame seed - fry this over medium heat until golden brown dish up (put this on top of the noodles when you are ready to serve)
Method
1) Add in the Sh*take mushrooms, red dates and sugar cane to water (up to your family needs) and boil.
2) Add in Yuk Chuk.
3) Add in Tim Chuk
4) Add salt to taste

Though this year will be a quiet Chinese New Year nevertheless we hope you will be healthy and happy.
