Every year, on a weekend in May, Sikhs from around our part of the world rush to Malacca.

These days the term Sant is very loosely thrown about. But Sant Baba Sohan Singh Ji? He is well and deserving of this title! You could even say he’s a benchmark.

Local gandparents who have met him, share his stories. One word that is synonymous with him, is kindness.

Do you know he also laid the foundation of GSPJ?

Anyway, Baba Ji was given a mission to spread Sikhi in Malaysia. He did it will love and he brought a lot of joy while doing it. Today the strong foundation that we see is one that he helped to build.

He truly left a mark. Which is why you see Sanggat in large numbers, even from neighbouring countries to visit Gurdwara Sahib Malacca during Barsi.

Barsi should be solemn yes, but along with that, it is also a celebration and the reminder of an amazing man who once roamed around this same Gurdwara Sahib, spreading the message of Waheguru.

During PJ Mini Samelan, we took the kids for hiking and closer to nature we realised that we barely ever speak about Guru Har Rai Ji.

Here’s 3 fun facts about Guru Har Rai Ji and also a little bit of sewa in the end which was also the theme of our Mini Samelan.

Now the quiet yearning begins once again. The empty feeling along with a longing for when we get an opportunity to spend long days in the company of Guru Sahib and Guru Ji's Sanggat.

On behalf of PJ Naujawan, thank you to Guru Ji for this sewa and all the participants, parents, sewadars and everyone for making this a great success.

Till next time!

Sewa. That's the theme for our Mini-Samelan.

Today the kids were given a chance to wipe and clean the shoes of random people, to wash the Chaur Sahib. Something that we normally don't do.

We introduced the concept of Sewa of the Sanggat and Sewa of the Guru. Both equally important.

So often we go to the Gurdwara and we see people cleaning shoes. Have you ever wondered why they do it?

The closest we have gotten to an answer is because sewa like this helps us question ourselves internally. On one hand we have so much of ego and pride and now we're trying to lower ourselves, to become servants of Guru Sahib to serve his Sanggat.

Maybe somewhere, someday.. we lose our ego and we gain humility.

On the other side, we introduced the concept of Sewa of the Guru, such as Darbar Sahib Sewa, maintaining the Satkaar of Guru Granth Sahib Ji. Today the participants got a first hand chance to wash the Chaur Sahibs with proper Satkaar.

Doing Sewa of the Guru helps us get closer to the Guru, fills us with Love.

On one hand, we try to gain humility and then we try to gain Love.

Now in summary, if you've made it this far, maybe now it makes sense why Sikhs are able to serve langgar in any Gurdwara across the world. Maybe now it makes sense why Sikhs make it their responsibility to serve everyone, regardless of their race, colour, position.

It's because Sewa has made us the people who we are.
