Seck Kia Eenh was founded in 1920 by a group of religious Straits-born Chinese Buddhist, with a small image which you can see today on the side altar in the main Shrine Hall. The present bronze Buddha image was presented by Ven. Ratanatissa who personally brought it from Rangoon. The name Seck Kia Eenh means Lord Buddha monastery. In 1953 the name Malacca Buddhist Association was proposed to be added to the temple's name to enlighten the public of its aims or aspirations. The new SKE (Present) building was built in 1956 at the cost of RM30K. It was officiated by Mr Tan Hoon Siang SCH on the 23rd May 1956. That same year a bodhi sapling from Anuradhapura, Sri Lanka was presented by Ven. Mahawera Thera and was planted on 5th September 1956, by Mr yeo Juay Tee.
