Jesus died to Himself in obedience to the Father, and in Matthew 27, the moment He gave up His spirit, the earth shook, the rocks split, the tombs opened, and people were raised.
Then in Acts 16, Paul and Silas had also laid down their own comfort, safety, and plans to obey God. Their obedience landed them in prison, but even there, they worshipped. And again, there was an earthquake. The prison doors opened, the chains came loose, and eventually the jailer and his whole household were saved.
That parallel is so powerful to me. In both passages, surrender came before the shaking, and the shaking was connected to people being set free.
The key to the Father’s will is dying to yourself so He can freely move through you.
