As the Student Christian Organisation of Malawi (SCOM), we remain committed to the evangelisation, discipleship and training of students.

At the heart of this calling is a clear purpose: to raise a generation that genuinely loves and faithfully serves the Lord Jesus Christ, both within the Church and in the wider world.

This commitment is not merely a statement of intent—it defines who we are. Evangelism is our priority, as we seek to reach fellow students with the life-transforming message of the Gospel. Discipleship is our necessity, as we walk alongside believers, helping them grow into mature and grounded Christians. Training is our responsibility, as we equip students with the knowledge, skills and spiritual depth needed for meaningful and effective service.

Guided by our constitutional objectives, we are called to lead students into a personal relationship with God, to nurture their spiritual growth through Scripture and prayer, to raise faithful witnesses and true disciples of Christ, and to build a strong sense of Christian fellowship that responds to the needs of others and the world around us.

Therefore, as SCOM, we reaffirm our commitment to this divine mandate. In all that we do our programmes, structures and daily engagements we will ensure that evangelism, discipleship and training remain central, intentional and uncompromised.

Ernest Kawonga’s journey reflects determination and purpose. He began at Chankhomi Community Day Secondary School where he obtained 15 points in his MSCE in 2018. In 2021, he was selected to the University of Malawi to pursue a Bachelor of Education in Mathematics, demonstrating discipline and academic focus.

He has now successfully graduated with a Credit. This achievement represents not only academic attainment but also resilience, consistency and commitment throughout his studies.

In addition to his academic work, Ernest was active involved in spiritual development and service through the Student Christian Organisation of Malawi (SCOM). He demonstrated leadership, fellowship and a commitment to Christian values both on campus and beyond.

Ernest Kawonga’s journey is a strong example of balanced development in academics, character and service. Congratulations on this achievement. This marks the beginning of further opportunities and meaningful impact ahead.

CALLED TO FINISH STRONG

As we continue this academic term, Rumphi SCOM-AF warmly wishes all branches across the zone and the nation a reminder of our calling to be present and to finish strong.

Being present means actively participating in classes, fellowships, prayers and all school activities. This is a demanding term, but with discipline, unity and faith we can overcome every challenge, achieve excellence and build a strong Christian community on our campuses.

This is a critical term for form 2 & 4 students, with exams, and Malawi National Examinations Board (MANEB) examinations ahead therefore, let us remain disciplined, punctual and focused, knowing that excellence honors God. Let us also be responsible stewards of the opportunities, time and resources God has placed in our hands.

Let us support one another, stay focused on our goals and remain committed to God in everything we do. Together we can finish this term with strength, success and a powerful testimony.

To all SCOM members:
Support one another through group discussions, shared notes, prayer and fellowship. Lift each other up so that no student feels alone in their journey. Remember we are called to be brothers and sisters in Christ serving, caring and growing together.

Let this term be marked by:
• Excellence in academics
• Faithfulness in fellowship
• Commitment to service
• Presence in all school activities

Be present. Be purposeful. Be a light where you are. Finish strong.

Galatians 6:9 NIV
[9] Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.
