DISAPPOINTMENTS!!
To have disappointment, there must first be an appointment;something we have resolved to do. The appointments of men are always open to frustration, but God's appointments never are.
Closely allied to appointment is presidestination that word which so many people are wary of. Possibly because its meaning is not known or understood by them. It means "appointed beforehand. "
In Isaiah 26:1 we have one of God's appointments: we have a strong city; salvation will God appoint for walls and bulwarks." Walls and bulwarks were round every city for a defence, but notice the 3rd verse: "Thou will keep bim in aperfect peace whose mind is stayed on Thee because he trusteth in Thee." Nothing in this life is certain to us, but all things of God's appointing are certain. We may plan and sometimes when young, our ambitions turn very high to the things almost impossible to obtain but God often decrees that we shall not have those things and they are frustrated by His appointment.
If all God's children after living a long life could gather together all their disappointments and look over them I am sure that they would have to say that the blessings God has given them instead of the things they chose have been far better. Sometimes we are disappointed with life, with the things it gives such as position, money, and friends. Friends sometimes greatly disappoint us and some take these disappointments much more keenly than others according to temperament.
But wherever it may be one thing I know and can speak from experience, that the longer we brood over our ills the harder and more difficult it is to shake them off but if we can go to the Word of God and seek to find there those things which God has promised to His people (and these promises never fail) then we should find that which can give us (under God's blessing) an immediate uplift from sorrow and depression.
