Context:
Children with cerebral palsy, developmental delays, and post-clubfoot contractures in Nsaje face barriers to regular hospital-based therapy due to distance, cost, and seasonal flooding.
Intervention:
Hands-on therapy including supported standing, weight-shifting, and balance activities using an exercise ball and floor mat.
Caregiver training: mothers and CHWs were coached on safe handling, positioning, and 10-15 minute daily home routines.
Task-shifting: CHWs observed sessions to reinforce skills and monitor for red flags requiring hospital referral.
Equipment:
Basic, low-cost items including an exercise ball, play mat, and locally available supports. No clinic plinth required.
Outcome Focus:
Functional goals tied to daily life - sitting to eat with family, supported standing for hygiene, and early stepping for mobility.
