A Tribute to Pastor Lyson Dzatopetsa. Yesterday, we gathered with heavy hearts to honor Pastor Dzatopetsa, a faithful servant called home after a courageous battle with illness since November, 2025. Born on 23rd August, 1969, his journey was defined by an unwavering devotion to the Cross. Since joining the United Methodist Church in 2001, he answered the divine call to ministry in 2007. Over 19 years of service from the fields of Balaka to his final station at Bethlehem Circuit, Malawi South District, he led with a zeal for spiritual growth, proudly earning his Theological diploma through the church’s support. A fixture at every conference, he was the voice that rose in song, most notably his favorite, Dziko la Mtendere. As he has been laid to rest in Ntcheu, we pray for his wife and children. May he find that land of peace he so dearly sang of.

Keep resting in the eternal peace of God, Pastor Lyson.

Wishing you a blessed and peaceful Lenten season.

"For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." Luke 2:11. Go tell it over mountains: Jesus Christ the King is born! To the Methodist Church family, the entire body of Christ, and everyone everywhere: we wish you a merry Christmas and a prosperous New Year.

"For I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink" — Matthew 25:35. We extend our deepest gratitude to the Church of the Resurrection in Kansas for the meaningful partnership with the Malawi Provisional Annual Conference of the UMC. Together, we successfully drilled 15 boreholes this year! Beyond providing clean water, we conducted the required WASH training to ensure sustainability. One of the beneficiary rural communities, Thom Village, Madisi, committees are now nurturing vegetable gardens and banana suckers. These initiatives promote hygiene while generating income for future borehole maintenance. Thank you, Church of the Resurrection, for empowering Malawian rural communities with the gift of water and the tools for a healthier future!

Bishop Gift Machinga, on his first Episcopal visit to Malawi, spent November 22nd at the developing Conference Farm – Mikundi Dairy Farm, supported by UMCOR through the Yambasu Agriculture Initiative. The Bishop met the staff, inaugurated the farm with local chiefs, and shared a powerful prayer and word of encouragement with members in the farm's sanctuary. This vital project is designed for the long-term sustainability of the Conference's work here. Bishop Machinga, who oversees the Zimbabwe, Zambia, Malawi, and Botswana Episcopal Area, was greatly impressed by the "tremendous work" accomplished. “Let us not become weary in doing well, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.” – Galatians 6:9

Apart from sharing an encouraging word and discussing the state of the United Methodist Church, the atmosphere was filled with so much joy. The leaders expressed their excitement through vibrant singing and dancing, thanking God for the Bishop's leadership, which brings hope and sustainability to the conference. The people also presented thoughtful gifts to the Bishop and Mama Bishop. The Malawi Provisional Annual Conference has two Districts, namely, the Southern and North-Central Districts.
