The Betrayal of Judas Iscariot on Thursday Night
*************************************
Judas Iscariot was one who dwelt beside the Lord. He received everything the Lord gave him. The Lord loved him, used him, trusted him, showed him kindness, and forgave him.
Yet Judas coveted worldly power more than the Lord's love. He clung more tightly to silver coins than to the Lord's glory. Secretly, he sought new companions—those with money and authority. There was no longer any transparency with his Lord. In silence, he plotted betrayal.
In the end, for a small sum of money, he betrayed his Lord. The final outcome of betrayal is death.
Lesson
Whether believers or ministers, all of us must take heed and reflect on Judas's path. Do not forget that even the closest one can betray. Power, money, and greed gradually corrupt the heart. It is not enough to simply be with the Lord; purity of heart is required. A disciple without transparency may eventually become an enemy. Let us not exchange His love for greed. Let us not betray eternal life.
Is money more lovable than the Lord? Is power more valuable than grace?
May Judas's end awaken us.
