James explains that temptation often begins inside us, with a desire that draws us away from God. The progression is:

Desire → temptation → sin → death

Temptation itself is not the sin. The danger comes when we entertain and embrace a wrong desire until it produces sinful action.

The lesson is to deal with sinful desires at their beginning, bringing them to God before they grow and control our actions.

Ephesians 2:8–10 (NIV)

Faith Takes Responsibility

When Jesus told His disciples, “You give them something to eat,” He was teaching them that they should not simply point out a problem—they should be willing to participate in the solution.

The disciples saw the crowd and saw lack. Jesus saw an opportunity for God to work

1. Bring what you have. — The disciples had only five loaves and two fish, but Jesus could use it.
2. Do not let limited resources limit your faith. — What seems insufficient in our hands can become more than enough in God’s hands.
3. Be willing to act. — Jesus involved the disciples in the miracle. Faith is not passive; it responds to God’s instruction.
