Could the Creeds Be the “Other Gospel” Paul Warned About?

The Apostle Paul gave a serious warning in Galatians 1:8:

“But though we, or an angel from heaven, preach any other gospel unto you than that which we have preached unto you, let him be accursed.”

What exactly is the “other gospel” Paul was warning against?

Many sincere Christians today follow what is often called Creedal Christianity — teachings shaped by the Nicene Creed (325 AD) and later councils. These creeds attempted to define the nature of God using Greek philosophical terms (such as “homoousios” — “of the same substance”).

Here’s the key question:
Did the original gospel taught by Jesus and the Apostles include complex philosophical definitions of the Godhead that took centuries of debate to formulate?

Or was the simple, biblical gospel of faith in Christ, repentance, baptism, receiving the Holy Ghost, and enduring in grace sufficient?

Paul taught a clear, straightforward gospel centered on the living Christ. The early Church experienced a gradual falling away after the Apostles died (2 Thessalonians 2:3). Over time, some plain and precious truths were lost or altered, and human philosophy began filling the gaps.

The Restoration through Joseph Smith was not the creation of “another gospel.” It was the restoration of the original gospel — with living apostles, priesthood authority, and additional scripture that testifies of the same biblical Jesus.

We believe the Bible is the word of God. We simply believe God has restored the fulness of what was lost so we can follow Christ with greater clarity and power.
The restored gospel does not contradict Paul’s warning — it fulfills it by returning to the simple, pure gospel of Jesus Christ.

There are times when a calling is used as a source of pride instead of a way to serve. But in the true spirit of the gospel leadership is never about power it is about love, humility, and service.

A true leader in the Church does not seek recognition but serves quietly with a heart full of compassion. They do not use their position to appear “clean” or superior before others, but strive to be an instrument of the Lord’s light and love to every soul.

May we always remember that a calling is a sacred trust not to lift ourselves, but to lift others. In the end, the measure of our leadership is not how much we are seen, but how much we have loved and served like the Savior.

Number 16:20-31

And the Lord spake unto Moses and unto Aaron, saying,

21 Separate yourselves from among this congreg*tion, that I may consume them in a moment.

22 And they fell upon their faces, and said, O God, the God of the spirits of all flesh, shall one man sin, and wilt thou be wroth with all the congreg*tion?

23 ¶ And the Lord spake unto Moses, saying,

24 Speak unto the congreg*tion, saying, Get you up from about the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram.

25 And Moses rose up and went unto Dathan and Abiram; and the elders of Israel followed him.

26 And he spake unto the congreg*tion, saying, Depart, I pray you, from the tents of these wicked men, and touch nothing of theirs, lest ye be consumed in all their sins.

27 So they g*t up from the tabernacle of Korah, Dathan, and Abiram, on every side: and Dathan and Abiram came out, and stood in the door of their tents, and their wives, and their sons, and their little children.

28 And Moses said, Hereby ye shall know that the Lord hath sent me to do all these works; for I have not done them of mine own mind.

29 If these men die the common death of all men, or if they be visited after the visitation of all men; then the Lord hath not sent me.

30 But if the Lord make a new thing, and the earth open her mouth, and swallow them up, with all that appertain unto them, and they go down quick into the pit; then ye shall understand that these men have provoked the Lord.

The 86-year-old had ruled since 1989 as only the second Supreme Leader after Ruhollah Khomeini. As head of state and commander-in-chief, he wielded ultimate authority over Iran’s political system and the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps. Before the 1979 revolution, The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints operated the Iran Tehran Mission, organized in 1975 and closed in December 1978 amid escalating unrest.

Harare Zimbabwe Temple is dedicated.

Elder Gerrit W. Gong of the Quorum of the Twelve Apostles of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints dedicated the Harare Zimbabwe Temple on Sunday, March 1, 2026.

Members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints from across the temple district g*thered to witness this historic milestone.

Located in the capital city, the Harare Zimbabwe Temple is the first dedicated house of the Lord in Zimbabwe and only the third in Southern Africa.
