The attention of the Catholic Bishops' Conference of Liberia (CABICOL) has been drawn to a statement issued by the Inter-Religious Council of Liberia, ๐’†๐’๐’…

While the Catholic Church shared some important values like justice, peace, reconciliation, human dignity, etc with our Brothers and Sisters of other faiths, we want to categorically state that we are not in agreement with the Inter-Religious Council in endorsing and requesting the passage of the New Public Health Bill of Liberia in its entirety.

Let it be recalled that on the 29th Day of August 2023, we issued a statement in which we called on the National Legislature to reconsider ๐—ฆ๐—˜๐—ซ๐—จ๐—”๐—Ÿ ๐—”๐—ก๐—— ๐—ฅ๐—˜๐—ฃ๐—ฅ๐—ข๐——๐—จ๐—–๐—ง๐—œ๐—ฉ๐—˜ ๐—›๐—˜๐—”๐—Ÿ๐—ง๐—› of this bill.

The Encyclical Letter of His Holiness Pope Leo XIV on protecting the human person in the age of Artificial Intelligence stands as one of the most significant modern contributions to Catholic Social Doctrine. Spanning approximately 65 pages, the document places itself within the long-standing tradition of the Churchโ€™s social teaching.

At its core, the encyclical is dedicated to defending human dignity amid the rapid rise of digitalization, robotics, algorithmic systems, and artificial intelligence. Pope Leo XIV sees the current moment not merely as a technological shift but as a true โ€œchange of eraโ€ one that has the potential to reshape human identity, freedom, work, communication, economics, governance, and even the meaning of truth itself.

The document is anchored in a profound theological vision. The Pope frames humanityโ€™s present situation through two biblical images: the Tower of Babel and the rebuilding of Jerusalem under Nehemiah. Babel represents a civilization driven by pride, domination, uniformity, and self-sufficiency apart from God.

Jerusalem, in contrast, embodies communion, shared responsibility, solidarity, and collective reconstruction under divine guidance. Through these two images, the encyclical presents the central moral choice facing humanity today: whether technology will be used to dominate and dehumanize, or to foster fraternity, justice, and authentic human flourishing.

SUBJECT: FUNERAL ARRANGEMENTS FOR OUR DECEASED BROTHER PRIESTS
DATE: May 9, 2026

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

On March 20, 2026, I informed you that the Liberian National Police had requested the Archdiocese not to carry out any burial arrangements for our two deceased brother priests and to preserve their remains pending the conclusion of police investigations, including a possible autopsy.

I now wish to officially inform you that the Liberian National Police, through the Coroner's Office, has communicated to the Archdiocese that all procedures requested by the Police, including the autopsy, have been completed. The remains of our brother priests have therefore been released to the Archdiocese, and we have been asked to proceed with the burial arrangements.

The Archdiocese of Monrovia expresses sincere gratitude to the Liberian National Police, the Ministry of Justice, and all those who have been part of this process. We also extend profound appreciation to the families of our deceased brothers for their patience, understanding, and cooperation throughout this difficult period.

In order to peacefully lay our brothers to rest, the following arrangements have been made:

Dear God,

We thank You for the patience, tenderness, and strength that You place within every mother. Please bless each mother who spends her days caring for, guiding, and loving her family. Comfort those who are quietly struggling behind their smiles today. Renew their hearts when they feel discouraged or emotionally weary. Fill them with the peace that calms their fears and the hope that restores their spirit. Remind them that even the smallest acts of love make a profound difference. May every mother feel Your presence surrounding her with comfort and grace.

Amen.

May has arrived a month bathed in the fragrance of flowers and the gentle light of Our Lady. It is a sacred time when the Church turns her gaze to Mary, the Mother of God and our Mother. Let this be a call to our hearts, a gentle yet firm invitation:

"๐“๐š๐ค๐ž ๐ฎ๐ฉ ๐ฒ๐จ๐ฎ๐ซ ๐‘๐จ๐ฌ๐š๐ซ๐ฒ"

In the rhythm of our daily lives amid the challenges, the hopes, and the prayers for peace and healing in our nation the Rosary is a lifeline. It is not a mere repetition of words, but a meditation on the life of Jesus, held in the hands of Mary. It is a weapon against despair, a school of faith, and a chain that binds us to Heaven.

Gather in your homes, however small. Let the beads slip through your fingers as you entrust your children, your marriages, and your homes to the Queen of the Rosary. She who kept all things in her heart will keep your families in hers.

Let every parish become a garden of prayer. Let the Rosary be prayed before Mass, in small groups, and in the quiet of the night. Through Mary, may our Church be renewed in faith, hope, and charity.

Liberia is a land of beauty and resilience, yet we still ache for deeper peace and unity. The Rosary is a prayer for peace. As we meditate on the Joyful, Sorrowful, Glorious, and Luminous Mysteries, we walk with Jesus through every trial and triumph of our nation. Let us pray for our leaders, our communities, and all who suffer.

May Our Lady of Fatima, Our Lady of the Rosary, walk with you and protect you. Amen ๐Ÿ™.
