The First Presbyterian Church of Monrovia, announces with profound regrets, the passing of it's Sexton for over 30 years, Deacon Jerry S. T. Morris. CKA (The Monk). This sad event occurred on Sunday, May 15, at the St. Joseph Catholic hospital, in Congo Town, Liberia, after a brief period of illness.
Deacon Morris was a very committed and dedicated member of the church, and was very passionate about his job as Sexton. Weather it was time for him to clean up the church or not, he was there everyday. The church almost became his first home. All of his daily activities were done right at the church. The church was the first family that he knew for more than 30 years.
We loved him, and will miss him dearly, for reading scriptures in service, for being willing to serve at all times, for his kind words to everyone, for his honesty, and for his loving and humble spirit. It will be very difficult to find someone to replace Jerry in the church, he was special and unique in his own way.
Take your rest Jerry, God saw that you were tied, He decided to call you home to rest. Sleep on, we will meet you on that great getting up morning.
