Mount Gibi Northwest District Advances Agricultural Development And Evangelism Initiatives At Executive Meeting
Margibi, Liberia – September 27, 2025 – The Mount Gibi Northwest District of the Grain Coast Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church successfully held its executive meeting on Friday, September 26, 2025, at the St. Thomas Global Methodist Church in Madina Community, Kakata City, Margibi County.
The gathering which brought together heads of various committees, focused on reviewing key issues from the recent district retreat in August and developing strategies to fund the district's growth and development.
Rev. Peter W. Harris, Presiding Elder of the district, emphasized the critical role of agriculture as the district’s economic foundation. He urged every local church to actively engage in agricultural activities and called on the three district zones to immediately launch their agricultural initiatives. Rev. Harris stressed that sustainable development through agriculture, as previously agreed at the district retreat, must be prioritized, warning that any zone or church neglecting this focus would face penalties. He described agriculture as the "heartbeat" of the newly created district.
Beyond agriculture, Rev. Harris encouraged various church departments—including women, men, youth, young adults, and the choir—to create empowerment strategies and engage in initiatives that promote positive growth within their communities.
In addition to agricultural development, the Presiding Elder highlighted evangelism and church planting as vital priorities. He urged the evangelism committee to intensify their efforts in expanding the church's outreach.
In a significant gesture, Rev. Harris presented a new motorbike to the district on behalf of the Grain Coast Annual Conference of the Global Methodist Church. This vehicle will support evangelism and church planting activities throughout the St. Paul River–Gbarpolu area, enhancing mobility and mission outreach.
The executive meeting underscored the district’s commitment to sustainable agriculture, community empowerment, and church growth as pillars for its future development.
