Kelaniya Royal Temple - කැලණිය රාජ මහා විහාරය

කැලණිය රාජ මහා විහාරය යනු ශ්‍රී ලංකාවෙහි ගම්පහ පරිපාලන දිස්ත්‍රික්කයේ කැලණි ගඟ අසබඩ කැලණිය ප්‍රදේශයේ පිහිටි බෞද්ධ විහාරස්ථානයකි. එය කොළඹට ඊසාන දෙසින් 11 km පමණ දුරින් පිහිටා ඇත. මෙහි වත්මන් විහාරාධිපති මහාචාර්ය කොල්ලුපිටියේ මහින්ද සංඝරක්ඛිත නාහිමිපාණාන් වහන්සේය. කැලණිය ගෞතම බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ තෙවන මෙන්ම අවසන් ලංකාගමනයෙන් පාරිශුද්ධත්වයට පත් වු පුදබිමකි. බුදුරජාණන් වහන්සේගේ තෙවන ලංකාගමනය සිදුවූයේ ස

ම්බුද්ධත්වයෙන් වසර 8 ක් ගතවූ කාලයේදීයි. එනයින් කැලණිය පුදබිමේ ඉතිහාසය ක්‍රි.පූ. 500 ක් තරම් ඈතට දිවෙන බවට සැලකිය හැකිය. මහාවංශයට අනුව, බුදු හිමි වැඩ සිට ධර්මය දේශනා කළ මැණික් එබ්බවූ මැණික් පුටුවක් නිධන් කොට කැලණියේ ස්ථූපය ඉදිකරවා ඇත. මණිඅක්ඛිත නා රජුගේ ආරාධනයෙන් බුද්ධත්වයෙන් වසර අටක් ඇවෑමෙන් වෙසක් මස පුර පසළොස්වක දින අප මහා ගෞතම බුදුන් වහන්සේ කැලණියට සපැමිණියේ ලක්බිමට වැඩි තුන්වැනි සදහම් චාරිකාවට ඓතිහාසික සටහනක් තබමිනි. බුදුන් වහන්සේගේ මෙම ලංකාගමනයට පන්සියයක් මහ රහතන් වහන්සේ ද එකතු වූහ. කැලණි පුරවරයේ මණිඅක්ඛිත නාග භවනට පැමිණි බුදුන් වහන්සේ සහ පන්සියයක් මහරහතන් වහන්සේ ගෞරව බහුමානයෙන් පිළිගැනීමට මණිඅක්ඛිත මහ නා රජාණන් සැදී පැහැදී බලා සිටියේ පුරවරය මහත් සේ අලංකාරවත් කරමිනි. අසලින් ගලා බසිනා සුන්දර කැලණි නදියෙන් ජලස්නානය කළ බුදුන් වහන්සේ නා විමනේ මාණික්‍යය ආසනයේ සිට සද්ධර්මය දේශනා කළ සේක. බුදුන් වහන්සේ කැලණි රාජධානියේ දී ධර්මය දේශනා කළ ස්ථානයේ දී ඒ මැණික් පුටුව නිධන් කර කුඩා ස්තූපයක් ප්‍රථමයෙන් මණිඅක්ඛිත නා රජු විසින් තනවන ලදී. Situated in the Gampaha administrative district of Sri Lanka, the Buddhist temple known as the Kelaniya Raja Maha Viharaya is situated near the Kelaniya town along the Kelani River. Mahinda Sangharakkhita of Kollupitiya is the head of the temple. During Lord Gautama Buddha's third and final journey, Kelaniya gained it’s sacred status. The third trip to Sri Lanka by Lord Buddha happened eight years after his enlightenment and as a result, the sacred place of Kelaniya has a history that begins in BC. One may argue that it dates back up to 500 years. As per the Mahavamsa, the Buddha expounded the Dharma from a gem-encrusted chair that was treasured, and this led to the construction of a stupa in Kelaniya. Following eight years of enlightenment, the great Gautama Buddha came to Kelaniya at the invitation of King Maniakkhita on the full moon day of Vesak. He left a historical note on his third sadaham voyage to Lakbima. Alongside the Buddha on his way to Sri Lanka were five hundred Maharahats. When the Buddha and five hundred Maharahats arrived at Maniakkhita Naga Bhavana in Kelani town and enhanced the town's beauty, King Maniakkhita Mahana was prepared and eager to welcome them. The Buddha first bathed in the next to, lovely Kelani River before using the Na Vimane Manikya Asana to preach the Dharma. The monarch Maniakkhita Na, who prized that gem chair, first erected a modest stupa near the location where the Buddha delivered the Dhamma in the Kingdom of Kelani.
