🌿 Metta Bhavana – The Practice of Loving-Kindness

Take a quiet moment, breathe gently, and let your mind settle.

Begin by sending kindness to yourself:
“May I be happy.”
“May I be peaceful.”
“May I be free from suffering.”
“May I be safe and well.”

Now bring to mind someone you love, and extend the same wishes:
“May you be happy.”
“May you be peaceful.”
“May you be free from suffering.”
“May you be safe and well.”

Next, think of someone you neither like nor dislike, and offer them kindness too.

Finally, expand your heart to all beings everywhere:

“May all beings be happy.”
“May all beings be peaceful.”
“May all beings be free from suffering.”
“May all beings be safe and well.”

🌸 When the heart is filled with
loving-kindness, anger fades, peace grows, and life becomes lighter.

Even if you practice it for a short time (10min)
every day, your mind becomes softer, lighter, and more compassionate 🌸

🙏 Why Don’t Buddhist Monks Marry? 🙏

Buddhist monks do not marry because they choose a monastic life focused on spiritual practice and inner freedom rather than family life.

In Buddhism, monks follow a discipline called celibacy and avoid romantic and sexual relationships. This helps them:

• reduce attachments and desires,
• live a simple and disciplined life,
• focus on meditation, morality, and wisdom,
• work toward enlightenment (Nirvana).

The Buddha taught that family life naturally includes responsibilities, emotional attachments, and worldly concerns. Monastic life is meant to be a path away from those attachments in order to fully dedicate oneself to spiritual development.

This does not mean marriage is considered bad in Buddhism. Marriage and family life are respected as a normal and valuable path for lay people. However, monks choose a different path with a different purpose. 🙏

In Buddhism, maintaining mindfulness (Sati) is considered extremely important because it is the foundation for controlling the mind and living a righteous life. 🙏

Some important benefits of mindfulness:

It helps control unwholesome thoughts such as anger, fear, and greed.

It gives you the ability to think before speaking.

Wrong actions are reduced.

Inner peace increases.

Concentration and memory improve.

It becomes the foundation for meditation and understanding the Dhamma.

It helps you understand how suffering arises.

In Satipatthana Sutta, mindfulness is described as the “direct path” for purifying the mind and progressing toward liberation (Nirvana).

A short reflection:

> “Where mindfulness exists, the mind is protected.
Where mindfulness is absent, the mind becomes scattered.” 🙏

🌅 Good morning, everyone! Today is Day 9—the final day of our Vesak Celebration at Hương Đạo Vipassanā Bhavānā Center. As this sacred journey concludes on May 10, 2026, let us cherish the opportunity to walk together on the path of peace, whether we are gathered here in person or connected in spirit from afar.

Throughout these past days, we have reflected on peace, mindfulness, loving-kindness, and harmony. Our hope is that each of us carries these wholesome values within our hearts, allowing them to nourish our lives and guide our steps from this day forward and into the future.

Today is going to be our peaceful day.
May you and all beings be well, happy and at peace. 🙏✨
