John Dal Bastone Church is situated at Pellawatte, Talangama South, which is part of Sri Jayawardenapura, (In Colombo, Western province) the ancient capital of Kotte and the administrative capital of Sri Lanka today. Apparently this is the only church in the world dedicated to the ancient Benedictine monk, who is suppose to be the first disciple of St. It is a parish with more than 750 families and a Daham Pasala which teaches the catechism for more than 300 students.
