Founded in 1938, it is one of the major associations in Lebanon and the surrounding region and member of international organizations and now has more than 14000 members across all Lebanese territory. Internally, the association is part of the Ministry of Youth and Sports. Our group was one of the earliest to be founded in 1957, under the name «Groupe Scout du Collège Notre Dame des Frères Furn El
Chebbak » by few young men, concerned for the necessity to create a community embracing motivated, committed and helpful youngsters. Our group now has more than 250 members and more than 25 chiefs and assistant-chiefs overseeing and directing the proper achievement of the main goals of SDL (Scouts Du Liban), summarized in 5 aims, social, manual, physical, spiritual, and development of own personality. Our group consists of 6 branches:
Meute: Young boys (Louvetaux) and girls (Louvettes) aged between 8-12 Years
Troupe: Young boys (Eclaireurs) and girls (Eclaireusess) aged between 12-17 Years
Clan: Young men (Routiers) and women (Pionnieres) aged 17 and above. During these 65 years, our group has gone through ups and downs, but the internal organization and the prevailing fraternal spirit in each member of this group, allowed all difficulties to be overcome and the “Group IXeme” to become and maintain one of the leading scout groups in Lebanon. Today, we are the only Scout du Liban group in the region of Furn El-Chebbak, and Ain El-Remmaneh. Our social network is wide whether with other scout groups and movements across Lebanon and abroad as well, or with previous scout chiefs and members, or social characters and companies having the same or common goals as we do.
