Here’s What Mercy Really Looks Like…
Ano ang gagawin mo kung bigla mong makita yung taong nakasakit sa’yo, nag-offend sa’yo, or gumawa ng bagay na sobrang hirap mong kalimutan?
Madaling sabihin na, “I forgive you.” Pero kapag ikaw na talaga yung nasaktan, ibang usapan na.
During Jesus’ time, may mga taong nagtuturo na parang may limit ang forgiveness—hanggang ilang beses lang dapat kang magpatawad. Pero Jesus showed us something different. Forgiveness isn’t supposed to have a limit. He taught us to forgive generously and continuously.
Pero let’s be honest… forgiveness is not easy.
Minsan sasabihin natin, “Lord, gusto ko naman magpatawad… pero ang sakit pa rin.”
And that’s real.
Kasi kapag may taong paulit-ulit kang sinaktan, natural lang na gusto mong umiwas, magalit, or even make them feel the pain they caused you.
Pero mercy means choosing compassion even when someone doesn’t deserve it.
And if we want to understand what mercy looks like, we only have to look at Jesus.
Think about us.
Ilang beses na tayong nagkamali? Ilang beses nating ginawa yung alam nating hindi tama? Ilang beses tayong lumayo sa Diyos, pero when we came back, He was still there.
God loved us so much that He sent Jesus to die for us—not because we deserved it, but because He chose to love us anyway.
That is mercy.
We received forgiveness that we didn’t deserve. Grace that we couldn’t earn. Love that we could never repay.
And because God has shown us that kind of mercy, He also asks us to show mercy to others.
The world will tell you, “Don’t forgive. Let them feel what they did to you.”
But Jesus says, “Give Me that pain.”
Hindi ibig sabihin na kapag nagpatawad ka, okay lang yung ginawa nila.
Hindi rin ibig sabihin na kailangan mong ibalik ang trust immediately.
And forgiveness doesn’t always mean allowing someone to hurt you again.
Sometimes, forgiveness simply means you stop carrying the burden of what they did and surrender it to God.
Kasi minsan, we think forgiveness is for the person who hurt us.
But sometimes, forgiveness is also God’s way of setting us free.
So today, ask yourself:
“Is there someone I still need to forgive?”
Maybe someone who hurt you years ago.
Maybe someone you’re still angry with.
Or maybe someone you say you’ve forgiven, but deep inside, the wound is still there.
Bring that person—and that pain—to God.
Ask Him to search your heart, heal what is hurting, and help you release what you’ve been carrying for so long.
Because Jesus is not asking you to do something He hasn’t already done for you.
You were forgiven when you didn’t deserve it.
You were shown mercy when you couldn’t earn it.
And today, God is inviting you to extend that same mercy to someone else.
Forgiveness may be painful, but you don’t have to do it alone. Jesus will help you.
