절두산순교성지 한국천주교순교자박물관에서 2026년 첫 전시로 한국적인 아름다움으로 재해석한 교회 미술 작품, 운보 김기창(1914-2001, 베드로)의 〈예수의 생애〉 연작 판화를 선보입니다.
우리의 영혼을 비추고 신앙을 일깨워주는 교회 미술은 전통적으로 서양화의 영향 아래 있는 것으로 여겨졌지만, 많은 작가들에 의해 한국적인 교회 미술이 시도되었습니다. 한국의 색을 입은 교회 미술은 우리가 가진 것과 새로운 것이 조화롭게 섞이어 익숙하지만 동시에 참신한 조형을 보여줍니다. 한 해를 시작하는 이 시기, 익숙한 일상에 활기를 부여하고 희망의 길을 찾으시기를 바랍니다.

As our museum opens its first exhibition of 2026, we aim to present Catholic art reinterpreted with the traditional beauty of Korean.
Catholic art that illuminate the depths of the human soul and awaken faith, has traditionally been considered to be under the influence of Western painting. But Many artists have attempted to create Korean catholic art. Woonbo Kim Ki-chang’s "The life of Jesus" is artwork that contributed to the successful indigenization of Catholic art as Korean traditional painting.
Catholc art, imbued with Korean colors, harmoniously blends the familiar with the new, presenting us with a familiar yet simultaneously novel aesthetic. As we embark on this new year, I hope you find a way to invigorate the repetitive order and find a path of hope.
