Internal Idols External Idols (2)
(Exodus 20:3) "You shall have no other gods before me" – External Idols

Idols, which are human-created substitutes, ultimately lead to human self-deification.
In the first of the Ten Commandments, God first says, "I am the Lord, who brought you out of Egypt" (Exodus 20:2), and then adds, "You shall have no other gods."
Today, our idols have become even more distorted: believing that money provides security, believing that power will protect us, believing that human approval will save us, believing that the fruits of our labor constitute our identity, relying on or fearing God more than anything else, these are "other gods."

God's first commandment is not a conditional but a covenantal demand for loyalty, and the command not to have other gods is a demand for exclusive love.
So, with this commandment, we must examine the direction of our hearts. What are we placing in the place of God?

My life belongs to the Lord!
1 John 5:6-
Verse 6: "This is he who came by water and blood—Jesus Christ."
At the time, this confession was a life-threatening one.
They were expelled from the Jewish community, ridiculed by the Greek philosophers, and considered rebels by the Roman emperor.
The devil stirred up a great heresy to prevent people from believing that Jesus was the Christ.
Nevertheless, there were those who confessed that Jesus was the Christ, because in them was eternal life and the kingdom of God.
God had to come as a human being and die on the cross to atone for the sins of all humanity.
That's why the Apostle John emphasized
Jesus' coming by "water" refers to his baptism in the Jordan River at the beginning of his public ministry to become the sin offering for all humanity.
Another piece of evidence presented by the Apostle John is v7 For there are three that testify: v8 the Spirit and the water and the blood; and these three agree.
This means that God Himself testified in Luke 3:22 that Jesus Christ is the Christ.
Our lips confess only that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is witnessed by water, blood, and the Spirit, is our Savior, and we pray that we may enjoy eternal life.

Lord, let my lips only speak positive words and confess the Lord Jesus of the blood, water, and Holy Spirit.

The Meaning of the Ark
The ark is the Hebrew word "teybat," referring to Noah's ark, the "ark of bulrushes" containing baby Moses, and thirdly, the "ark of the covenant" (taba) of God within the Holy of Holies.
Noah's ark and the bulrushes of baby Moses could not move on their own due to the movement of water. The Ark of the Covenant could only be moved by the Levitical priests at God's command. In other words, they were not moved by their own power, but by an external force.

Noah's ark, the bulrushes of baby Moses, and the Ark of the Covenant share four common characteristics:
First, they were "powerless" (lacking the ability to move on their own).
Second, they were the result of God's response to human sin.
Third, they symbolize God's grace and salvation blossoming amid despair and judgment.
To summarize these three commonalities, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ, like Noah's Ark, offers humanity salvation from judgment. Like Moses' ark, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ offers humanity hope amidst despair. Like the Ark of the Covenant, the crucifixion of Jesus Christ offers forgiveness that covers humanity's sinful state. Amen...

Lord~! Powerless and incompetent, I yearn only for Your grace.

Wisdom from Above (2)
Contrary to the teachings of the world, the Bible says, "Do not set your minds on high things, but rather abide by the lowly." It also tells us not to be arrogant or haughty, nor to harbor vain and vain ambitions, but to be humble.
Biblical scholars define Eve's eating the fruit of the knowledge of good and evil as a result of "intellectual pride."
Satan cunningly tempted Eve in the Garden of Eden to harbor the delusion of pride.
"Intellectual pride" refers to knowledge of information and things, which can be learned.
In contrast, wisdom is not something easily learned. It is the ability and resourcefulness to use and apply knowledge, and the ability and resourcefulness to pursue that knowledge for good and worthy purposes.
Because of this relationship between knowledge and wisdom, the more we know, the wiser we should become. However, we see far too many cases where this is not the case due to an evil heart rather than a good one.

James 3:17 says, "But the wisdom that comes from above is pure, peaceable, gentle, and submissive, full of mercy and good fruits, without partiality or hypocrisy."
Heavenly wisdom,
If we seek the wisdom God gives, we can become one. May we all become children of the Lord, united in Christ through the wisdom from above.

Hope brings thanksgiving.
Colossians 1:3 "We always thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, when we pray for you."

Paul always says, "We thank God, the Father of our Lord Jesus Christ," when he prays for the Colossians.

This was because the Colossian believers' faith was abundant.
They were rich in faith and love, and they lived a life that bore abundant fruit of the Spirit, following the gospel truth Paul preached. The growth of faith and a holy life in the believers is what pleases God most and is a joy to those who love God.
Paul praised Epaphras for having taught the Colossians the word of truth (1:7), and for being a faithful servant of Christ, he told Paul about their love in the Holy Spirit (1:8).
Paul, who once persecuted believers in Jesus and was utterly unworthy of the kingdom of God as his reward, was compelled by God to call him and grant him the grace of salvation. He could not help but be grateful.

We too have received the same grace. Therefore, believers who have stored up their hope in heaven should show an attitude of gratitude to God, for this is His will for us in Christ.
I earnestly pray that you and I may all approach the Lord with gratitude in all things.

Lord! Today, I especially thank You for granting us our 40th wedding anniversary and many believers like Colossians, and to the H.O.W. and GL members.

Be Humble
For a Christian to grow in faith is to be humble before God.
Saint Augustine said, "I am humble." He called it pride to proclaim that one is doing well, that one is better than anyone else, that one is special, or that one's spiritual level is higher than others.

This is precisely what Christians must be wary of. Despite hearing countless times about humility, we seem to live without a clear understanding of biblical humility. Consequently, we equate humility, as a socially accepted virtue, with humility as a Christian virtue.

"Without me you can do nothing." John 15:5. This means that humility, if separated from relationships, is not the humility God demands or commands.

From God's perspective, if we humble ourselves before Him, He will bestow His grace upon us. Because we need His grace to care for and guide us, we must approach Him with the heart of humility.
God says He humbles and casts down those who exalt themselves, and He says He doesn't know the proud because they lack the fear of God (Matthew 7:23).

If I want to say I'm a Christian, I hope it all begins with a relationship with God. Amen...

O! Lord, let me become more and more humble before you.

Sola Fide: Faith Alone (1)
If "grace alone" speaks of the motive and driving force of salvation, "faith alone" speaks of the means or instrument of salvation. God's grace is the sole motive and driving force of salvation. And the only means by which that grace actually works is our faith. We are saved by that grace "through" faith (Ephesians 2:8).
Luther's zeal for salvation deepened, but the more he worked, the more frustrated and despairing he became.
It is only natural that he most powerfully proclaimed "faith alone," as he realized that "God's righteousness" is not merely the perfect righteousness God demands of humanity, but also the righteousness of Christ that God "gives to those who believe."

"Justification by faith alone" is the core of Christianity and distinguishes it from not only Catholicism but also all other religions. All religions are based on human effort and achievement.
The doctrine of "faith alone" says that our works in no way help us become righteous before God.

Jesus also said,
John 5:24 "Very truly I tell you, whoever hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life and will not be condemned but has passed from death to life." Amen...

We humbly confess that the "righteousness of Christ" that God gives to believers is by faith alone.

Sola Gratia: Grace Alone (2)
There are several important things to keep in mind when talking about "grace alone."
1. We acknowledge that we are undeserving.
If a 100-meter race were held and prize was given to the winner, the winner would likely feel unappreciated and believe they ran well and received a fair reward.
If we truly understand the meaning of "grace alone," we cannot help but be humble before God.
2. "Grace alone" means acknowledging that it is 100% God's sovereign choice.
Matthew 20:1-16 A vineyard owner hired laborers early in the morning, at the third hour, the sixth hour, the ninth hour, and the eleventh hour. He paid each worker a denarius. When the first workers complained, the owner said, "Shouldn't I do what I want with what is mine? Or are you envious because I am generous?" (Luke 20:15).
Sometimes we fail to distinguish between grace and justice.

3. The reason salvation is a gift of grace is not because it is worthless, but because it is so precious that we can never pay for it with our own strength.
I pray that we may live worthy lives as recipients of grace, proclaiming it more beautifully and valuable in the world.

Lord, I thank you for your compelling grace, which I can never repay.

More Bible Verses:
The church is a community of individuals (cells).

While each cell's individuality is respected and each member's gifts are needed, individuality is not a hindrance to the community, but rather a benefit. Gifts are given to serve one another, not oneself.
Therefore, the Bible encourages unity. It does not speak of uniformity in methods or opinions, but of unity in purpose.

For the saints to have peace and become one body:
Forgive one another, as the Lord has forgiven us (Colossians 3:13),
and treat one another with compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience (Colossians 3:12).
These are all combined with the comprehensive concept of "love," which binds all the resources for peace together perfectly in one body (Colossians 3:14).
The power of all this is the "peace of Christ," and the peace Christ provides through His Word rules in our hearts (Col 3:15).

The Word has ultimate authority in all we do, and when we, as individual church members, humbly submit to the Word and joyfully follow it, we have cells that are healthy through the Word, we become truly healthy and growing cell churches.

Therefore, we must allow the Word to dwell richly within us and strive to apply it to ourselves and grow in maturity. Amen...

Lord, let the Word not be a yardstick to measure others, but a mirror that allows us to see, understand, and reform ourselves.

O daughter of Jerusalem!
15. The Lord has taken away the judgments against you; he has cleared away your enemies.
The King of Israel, the Lord, is in your midst; you shall never again fear evil.
16. On that day it shall be said to Jerusalem: “Fear not, O Zion; let not your hands grow weak.
17. The Lord your God is in your midst, a mighty one who will save; he will rejoice over you with gladness; he will quiet you by his love; he will exult over you with loud singing.
18. I will gather those of you who mourn for the festival, so that you will no longer suffer reproach.
19. Behold, at that time I will deal with all your oppressors. And I will save the lame and gather the outcast, and I will change their shame into praise and renown in all the earth.
20. At that time I will bring you in, at the time when I gather you together; for I will make you renowned and praised among all the peoples of the earth, when I restore your fortunes

* Reason Why
**Understanding the text
Verses 14-16 The praise that Jerusalem will sing.
Zion and Jerusalem are no longer the 'city of violence' (Zeph 3:1), but the object of Jehovah's salvation and love. Since the time of judgment has passed, Zion and Jerusalem rejoice and praise God. God becomes the leader of His chosen people and defeats the enemy. Now Zion must not let down her hands and become discouraged.
Verses 17-18 God who loves His people.
The Almighty God who gives salvation rejoices over His people as a bridegroom rejoices over his bride (Isa 62:4-5) and calls them. And God gathers the remnant who feel humiliated because they cannot even keep the feasts.
Verses 19-20 The ultimate restoration that comes to Jerusalem.
God judges those who have afflicted His people and saves the weak and lowly who have been abused. He also gathers back those who have been scattered abroad. Finally, salvation that shines with Jehovah's justice comes.
 Application question
God is the Almighty God who restores His chosen people to complete salvation. As saved people, what should we turn away from fear and anxiety and restore?

Today let's pray for the word of God to become a part of our lives.
