Ek Phnom is one of the important Angkor‑period temple sites in northwestern Cambodia, dating back to the 11th century. The temple was constructed during the reign of King Suryavarman I (r. 1006–1050), a powerful ruler who unified large parts of the Khmer Empire and expanded its borders into present‑day Thailand and Laos.
