Today is Ash Wednesday — a day many Christians across the world mark as the beginning of Lent, a 40-day season of prayer, fasting, repentance, and reflection as we prepare our hearts for Easter.

Admittedly, Ash Wednesday is not found in the New Testament and was not commanded by Jesus. However, the heart behind it is deeply rooted in New Testament teaching.

Though you will not see believers in Acts receiving ashes on their foreheads, nor will you find a direct instruction to observe Lent, Jesus himself commanded repentance, taught about fasting, and called believers to humility and self-examination.

Ash Wednesday which was developed by the early Church not as a law, but as a spiritual tool to help believers intentionally begin this 40-day journey of prayer, fasting, and reflection before Easter is therefore a practice and not a doctrine.

Christians who observe the tradition and those who don't should both agree that the New Testament clearly shifts the focus from external ritual to inward transformation. While Ash Wednesday is not required for salvation, it is a helpful tradition or practice that is meant to point us back to repentance, humility, and renewal.

The bottom line is; Whether one observes it or not, the call of Scripture remains the same: Repent. Return. Realign your heart with God.

Making declarations is not optimism—it is faith. It is agreeing with and proclaiming the promises of God.

When we speak His Word, we align our hearts with His truth and declare what He says over our lives, our families, the Church, and our nation.

As the Bible says, “life and death are in the power of the tongue”. With our tongues, we can make or break our lives.

As we close this prayer season, vwe declare God’s Word, we release faith and stand on His promises. We choose to speak faith, hope, and God’s promises. 🙏

Biblical declarations are faith-filled words rooted in God’s promises. Declarations are rooted in:
1. God’s promises (Scripture)
2. Faith in God’s character
3 Alignment with His will

It therefore follows that making declarations is not optimism (hope that things will go well), it is far superior. It is agreeing with God and proclaiming His promises as written in His word.

The word reminds us that “life and death are in the power of the tongue” and that we “believe and therefore speak.”

When we declare God’s Word, we align our hearts with His truth and release faith over our lives, our families, the Church, and our nation.

Today we speak what God says—because what we declare in faith shapes what we walk in. 🙏

What we renounce loses its hold; what we surrender, God restores.

This is a moment of spiritual alignment, freedom, and new beginnings.

In the Bible, forty represents a season of testing, preparation, purification, and transition.

Before new beginnings, God often led His people through a “forty” season—like the flood, Israel in the wilderness, Moses on the mountain, and Jesus in the wilderness before His ministry began.

As we complete these 40 days, we lift a victorious voice of thanksgiving for all He has done and all He has promised to do.

We prayerfully step into a new season prepared, strengthened, and ready for what God will do next. We declare by faith that overflowing grace is our portion in Jesus mighty name. Amen

Today, our world is ravaged by a battery of sicknesses and assorted diseases that have gained notoriety for their high mortality rates, rapid spread and high costs of treatment and management.

Many families and communities continue to battle diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, depression, anxiety, and other infections that have touched nearly every home. Behind every statistic is a person, a family, and a story of struggle, fear, and hope.

Besides the suffering that is occasioned by sicknesses and diseases, a lot more people today carry the weight of grief, emotional wounds, trauma, loneliness, financial pressure, and silent battles that no one else sees. The world is indeed hurting.

God calls us His Church to stand in the gap. Yes, to interceed for those in pain. Prayer invites God into people’s situations, releases His comfort into pain, His strength into weakness, and His hope into places that feel hopeless.

Today, let us call upon Jehovah Rapha — the Lord our Healer to bring comfort, strength, and restoration to the sick and the suffering everywhere in Jesus mighty name. 🙏🙏🙏🙏

Sin never begins with chains—it begins with deception.

The enemy paints rebellion as freedom, distance as independence, and compromise as harmless. Yet like the prodigal son learned the hard way, many discover too late that the path of sin leads to emptiness, desperation, and spiritual famine.

Thank God that there is always room for restoration when we come to our senses. Our story like the prodigal son's story does not have to end in the far country. The Father still waits, mercy still calls, and freedom is still available through Christ.

Today we intercede for those trapped in sin, addiction, and spiritual bondage—believing that God still awakens hearts, breaks chains, and restores lives.

Jesus still sets captives free (Luke 4:18)
