Week wrap up.

The week comes to a close on a high note at the ACC&S Ngieni Livelihood Resilience Project, marked by practical learning and meaningful community engagement aimed at strengthening healthy, productive, and self-reliant households.

From a discussion on the different food groups and their importance to benefits of vertical gardening and why it is well suited to the local context.

These benefits includes but not limited to:
• Efficient use of limited space
• Improved water conservation
• saving on money used for vegetable purchase
• Provision of all year-round vegetables

With this intervention, community will not only save on money and water, but on time and healthy living while enhacing efficiency in the use of the limited resources.

Building strong community institutions starts with strong leadership and accountability.

On 6th–7th May 2026, ACC&S Community Development Wing successfully conducted an intensive Record Keeping Training for VSLA leaders at Ngieni under the Ngieni Livelihoods Resilience Project.

The training brought together 5 committee members from each of the 14 Village Savings and Loan Associations (VSLAs), equipping them with practical skills in financial record keeping, transparency, accountability, and effective group management.

Proper record keeping is key to building trust, strengthening savings groups, and ensuring long-term sustainability of community livelihoods.

Together, we continue empowering communities for resilience, economic growth, and self-reliance.

Happy Labour Day!

Let the favor of the Lord our God be upon us,
and establish the work of our hands for us
yes, establish the work of our hands.

SUSTAINING SUCCESS BEYOND PROJECT CLOSURE.

The phasing out of a project marks a transition, not an end. With resilience, discipline, and collective effort, sustainable growth remains within reach. This is evident from Kugeria VSLA success story.

Climate Smart Agriculture (CSA)

The Ngieni Livelihood Resilience Project has been actively training farmers and offering extension services to promote CSA practices. These trainings emphasize practical methods that improve land use, conserve resources, and enhance crop yields.

The Project aims at empowering farmers to adopt CSA practices that:
• Increase farm production sustainably.
• Conserve vital resources like water and soil by applying CA principles.
• Build resilience against climate shocks.
• Achieve more production from limited land by embracing Good Agronomic practices such as planting with precision.
• Diversify their income sources through agriculture.
By embracing CSA, our farmers will not only be food secure but also resilient to climate change.

🌱 Empowering Communities Through Energy-Saving Solutions 🔥

From Monday to yesterday, we successfully conducted an Energy Saving Jiko Training under the Ngieni Livelihoods Resilience Project.

A total of 40 group leaders and Community Development Committee (CDC) members were trained and are now equipped to serve as Trainers of Trainers (ToTs)—ready to cascade this vital knowledge to the wider community.

Why energy-saving jikos matter:

✅ Reduce fuel consumption – saves money for households
✅ Protect our environment – less deforestation and lower carbon emissions
✅ Improve health – reduced smoke means cleaner indoor air
✅ Save time – faster and more efficient cooking

By adopting energy-saving jikos in our homes, we are not only improving daily living conditions but also contributing to a more sustainable and resilient future.

We are proud of the participants for their dedication and commitment to driving change in their communities. The ripple effect of this training will be felt far and wide!

Yesterday marked a great milestone for us at the ACC&S Community Development Wing! 🎉
We officially launched the long-awaited ACC&S Livelihood Resilience Project, with a special focus on Ngieni Sub-location, Mwingi Central. The project aims to strengthen household livelihoods, promote sustainable farming, and empower local groups to build resilience against shocks such as drought and economic hardship.

The colorful event was graced by our Moderator Rt. Rev. Jeremiah Ngumo Kiguru, the Deputy County Commissioner, Sub-county Administrator, members of the church executive, the Ward Administrator, over 10 area chiefs and five village administrators.

We were especially encouraged by the strong turnout of over 350 community members, whose enthusiasm showed the community’s readiness to take part in transforming their own lives.

Together, we celebrated our shared commitment under the slogan —
✨ “Pamoja Tuinue Ngieni!” ✨
(Together, let’s lift Ngieni!)

A big thank you to everyone who made this day a success — from the local leadership, partners, and church representatives to the hardworking community members who have embraced this initiative with hope and determination. The journey to a resilient Ngieni has officially begun! 🌱💪
