To all friends of the Joy School.
We have been beneficiaries of Gods grace as we begun this new year. The burnt boys dorm was rebuilt and the boys now have a home. Just a few more finishing to be done like completing the plumbing, painting, and completing the house parents" room.
We are currently looking for sponsors for the orphans and any one interested is welcome to our child sponsorship page at www.hopeforkenya.org

Please take a moment and read this testimony from Pastor Derek about the boys dorms; and help if you can. You can also help by sharing this on your page; you never know who might be touched and willing to help! Thank you and may the Lord bless you!

This trip has had it's share of frustrations but in the light of the big picture it has been a huge success. Our goal was to pour a floating slab 24'x26' and may be lay a few block but as of today we have poured two floating slabs each 27'x26' and are on schedule to lay the blocks about 4' high by the time I leave this Friday. We are continuing to find ways to build better and at the same time cut costs almost in half making all your donations goes twice as far. The original boy’s dorm housed about 32 students, these new units will house 60 boys and a nice room for a teacher or house parent.
We have enough money to buy the concrete blocks to finish the job the only thing we are short is the labor to lay them. $2,000 is all we need and Mary Jane and I will give $500 so we only need $1500 by Friday so I need you to contact me by email or Cory if you can donate anything asap. Donations can also be made on the www.hopeforkenya.org website.
I really hope you are encouraged by the progress we have made with your help...thank you.

What an update! Your support can make a BIG difference in the life of child; please consider helping by sponsoring a child through the Hope for Kenya sponsorship program! Consider this update on Marcus, a young man that I personally met in 2012; Pastor Derek from Hope For Kenya reports:

Today we went to a local High Schools where one of our former students attends. Marcus is now doing very well in his new school which has seen a steady increase of their students go on to university. He attends school seven days a week from 6am to 6pm….wow! Not sure that would work in the US. In all my visits I have never heard a child complain about going to school, even when I ask if they want to go home they say “no” they like school. Sounds like great kids to invest in through sponsorship. I will be posting more of their stories as the week goes on. Derek managed to get a picture with his Principal.

Work on the new boys dorm begins! Thank you Pastor Derek and the Hope For Kenya team!

Well it's mid afternoon and we are working on the foundation. The wood just came to
build the forms for the foundation and then it started to rain..hard! The girl in the red shirt pushed a lot of wheel barrows this morning.

One young man reaching out to help other young men in need. Please read and share. From the ashes of this fire, the Lord will be glorified!

When Derek arrived at The King's School this morning, he was met by Jack Lord, one of the elementary students. Last night, Jack lost his tooth and was awarded a gold $1 coin. Jack looked at the coin and said, "I don't need this money, but the boys whose dorm burned down yesterday do." Thank you Jack for starting our donations to rebuild the boys dormitory.

We love to hear stories like this of young people being selfless in a very self-centered world. Tell us your story. Go to www.hopeforkenya.org to make a donation.
