THE LIGHT CHURCH DEVOTIONALS - BY PST MARTIN CHOMBA.
TODAY'S DEVOTION ( MONDAY 23RD MARCH 2026).
Therefore, having these *promises* , beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7.1.
WELCOME TO THE 82ND DAY OF THE YEAR OF RESTORATION.
Amazing day it is! This is the doing of the Lord. As we look forward to the end of the first quarter of this year, we can say that the grace of the Lord has been sufficient every day to supply us with our daily meal of His Word. For a man shall not live by bread alone, but by every Word that proceeds from the Mouth of the Lord.
Every time God sends His Word, it carries life and light. He sent His Word, which brought forth light and delivered them from destruction. His Word has the power to change any situation, no matter what it looks like. I mean, in the beginning, the earth was void, but God's Word framed it into the World we see now.
IF ANY SITUATION IS EXPOSED TO HIS WORD, CHANGE IS INEVITABLE.
But most importantly, we must know how to apply the Word of God in our life situations. Only in the application of the Word are results obtained. Most of our errors come either because we don't know the Word and the power therein.
Mark 12:24 Jesus answered them, “You are deluded because your hearts are not filled with the revelation of the Scriptures or the power of God.
The Word of God can only be applied through revelation. When you study the Word of God, you will come to know God's spiritual laws, promises, prophecies, and principles. In other words, the Word contains laws, principles, prophesies, and promises of God to His sons. It's therefore the responsibility of the sons to seek to appropriate them in their lives.
When you carefully look and meditate on the Word of God, the reality of the life God ordained for you is revealed in scriptures, the kind of life God intended for you, and the purposes of God for your life are made bare.
KNOWING THE PURPOSES OF GOD FOR YOUR LIFE MAKES YOU SQUARELY RESPONSIBLE
You can tell a man's future by the kind of responsibility he undertakes. Those who confess the Word and fail to do the Word are men building their life on sand. When storms, earthquakes, and winds blow, great is their fall.
Our devotional text says, Therefore, having these *promises* , beloved, let us cleanse ourselves from all filthiness of the flesh and spirit, perfecting holiness in the fear of God. 2 Corinthians 7.1.
Knowing God's promises makes you responsible for their fulfillment. You have to take an active, disciplined approach to spiritual maturity and to living a holy life. The grace of God never removes your responsibility of being faithful to God. Grace empowers us to do what pleases God.
Philippians 2:13 For it is God who worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure.
God's grace empowers you to do His will. Our response to His promises should be to cleanse ourselves from the filthiness of the flesh and spirit, maturing in the faith by practicing Holiness derived from the fear of God.
You have a responsibility to actively get rid of everything that contaminates your flesh and your spirit. Evil relationships must be ended.
Bad behaviors and addictions must be eliminated.
An evil character must be tamed.
The promises of God never make you passive. To be cleansed means turning away from evils and turning to God.
YOU CAN'T TURN TO GOD, WITHOUT TURNING AWAY FROM EVIL
For you can't serve two masters. The one you choose to obey becomes your master. You either choose to be a slave to evil o and be in bo***ge, or you choose to be a slave to righteousness and live in liberty and freedom.
Make your decision today to eradicate that which contaminates your flesh and your spirit. Choose life, that you may live.
MAKE THESE SCRIPTURES YOUR ADDITIONAL MEDITATION
Deuteronomy 30:19
I call heaven and earth to record this day against you, that I have set before you life and death, blessing and cursing: therefore choose life, that both thou and thy seed may live:
Matthew 6:24
No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
