This week, we started a new series named “Giving.” We learned that conversations around money can sometimes be uncomfortable because it is an area we need to look into.
We also found out that giving is God's idea. God owns everything, and we are just stewards. An offering is a voluntary gift given to God as an act of worship, gratitude, trust, and devotion.
In the Bible, from the book of Genesis, we look at the story of Cain and Abel, where, as they brought offerings to God, one was accepted and the other was rejected. From this story, we learn that giving starts with recognizing that God owns everything and that He looks at the state of our hearts.
God is blessed by the state of our hearts, not by the amount in our hands. Giving is a spiritual discipline, and He desires that we grow not only in love and faith but also in our giving.
Our invitation today is to trust God with what He has placed in our hands and to give as an act of grace, not as a command.
