🎡🚜 *_HARVEST TIMES, CAN WE ENSURE?_* 🚛 🎢
*NAIROBI SHOW!* Back then simply known as *“THE SHOW”* was synonymous to the first week of October Just before the schools opened, hence the climax of the school holidays and a good excuse for a family outing. This was a must go event for most Nairobians and indeed for a number of organised groups of pupils / students from schools within and outside Nairobi, the show was one favourite outing in their school calendar. For those who were privileged to ever go it was a déjà vu moment and now, quite nostalgic.
Later, it metamorphosed to *Nairobi International Trade Fair,* it was also synonymous to matters *“HARVEST!”* which was the genesis of the show, where entities, individuals or otherwise would display their ability, skills, *process and prowess* to harvest which later on encompassed sectors of manufacturing of both goods and services including entertainment. It also served as a portal where traders both local and international would converged and / or form alliances. Needless to say, the *Church especially the Anglican Church, around this time marked it as a period to offer a gift of HARVEST* . As masses trouped to the show either by public means or private through Kenyatta Avenue, the All Saints Cathedral compound would have agricultural machinery and implements on display during the week to culminate to great Sunday of giving.
We highlight the above the word *Process and Prowess, how is this so significant to HARVEST*
🙏 *Prayer:* Our heavenly Father we thank you for the harvest you bestow on us we are desirous of its assurance may your word guide us; Amen!
📓 *The Word:* _Jeremiah 5:23-31 23 But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts; they have turned aside and gone away. 24 They do not say to themselves, *‘Let us fear the Lord our God,who gives autumn and spring rains in season, who assures us of the regular weeks of harvest.’ 25 Your wrongdoings have kept these away; your sins have deprived you of good.* 26 “Among my people are the wicked who lie in wait like men who snare birds and like those who set traps to catch people. 27 Like cages full of birds, their houses are fulla of deceit; they have become rich and powerful 28 and have grown fat and sleek. Their evil deeds have no limit; they do not seek justice. They do not promote the case of the fatherless; they do not defend the just cause of the poor. 29 Should I not punish them for this?” declares the Lord. “Should I not avenge myself on such a nation as this? 30 “A horrible and shocking thing has happened in the land: 31 The prophets prophesy lies, the priests rule by their own authority, and my people love it this way. *But what will you do in the end?*_
📃 *The Message:* There were, or are times a farmer or farmers could be endowed with what is termed as a bumper harvests and the times of *The Show in Nairobi* witnessed some great display and records of harvest, from coffee to tea as cash crops; from beans to maize as domestic food, *During this era there were strong formation of great agricultural associations* BUT! these is becoming a memory repository, why? Could this be the case as in Jeremiah? (Your sins have deprived you…) read the above passage meditatively again; it ends with the question; *"But what will you do in the end?"* We stop the wickedness by both fthe haves and the "have nots", from the men of the cloth to the lay; We’ve got to repent and pray to the God of mercy, lest the situation remains or deteriorates.
🙏 *Prayer:* Father we humbly ask for your forgiveness for the wickedness in this country, oh LORD of harvest in your wrath remember mercy and restore our abundance, in Jesus name Amen!
*_Blessed Mwambi_*
