SUPKEM PARTICIPATES IN NATIONAL ENERGY TRANSITION CAPACITY-BUILDING WORKSHOP

The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) participated in the National Capacity-Building Workshop for Civil Society Organisations (CSOs) and Interfaith Actors on the African Development Bank (AfDB) Policy Frameworks and the Mission 300 National Energy Compact.

Representing SUPKEM were Sheikh Yussuf Nassor Maki, Head of Islamic Affairs and Jaffar Katana, Head of Strategy and Partnerships.

The workshop brought together key stakeholders to enhance understanding of Kenya’s energy transition agenda, the National Energy Compact, AfDB financing instruments and investment processes, as well as the role of faith actors in advancing decentralised renewable energy (DRE) and inclusive access to energy.

SUPKEM reaffirmed the important role of faith-based organisations in promoting sustainable development, community participation and equitable access to essential services.

SUPKEM remains committed to strengthening partnerships with government, development partners, civil society and other faith actors in support of an inclusive and sustainable energy transition that leaves no community behind.

SUPKEM LEADERSHIP PAYS COURTESY CALL TO PCS H.E. MUSALIA MUDAVADI

The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM), led by National Chairman Alhajj Hassan Ole Naado, paid a courtesy call to Prime Cabinet Secretary and Cabinet Secretary for Foreign and Diaspora Affairs, H.E. Hon Musalia W Mudavadi.

The engagement focused on strengthening collaboration in promoting peace, security, national cohesion, inclusivity and the welfare of Kenyans.

The Chairman was accompanied by Secretary General Sheikh Abdullahi Salat, National Treasurer Alhajj Omar Khamis and other senior SUPKEM officials.

SUPKEM remains committed to working with the Government and other stakeholders to foster a peaceful, united and inclusive Kenya.

SUPKEM GARISSA ENGAGES RELIGIOUS LEADERS ON PEACEFUL POLITICAL ENGAGEMENT

GARISSA, KENYA — The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) Garissa, led by Board Treasurer Sheikh Hassan Abdi Abdullahi, held an engagement with religious leaders in Garissa County to underscore the importance of peaceful and responsible political engagement as the campaign period gets underway.

The meeting emphasised the need for political leaders to present their policies, development priorities and visions to the public while avoiding hate speech, tribal incitement, misinformation and other forms of divisive rhetoric.

SUPKEM Garissa called upon political leaders, religious leaders and members of the community to uphold peace, social cohesion, tolerance and national unity throughout the campaign period and beyond.

In attendance were Sheikh Ismail Ali, Principal of Madrasa Khadija, Sheikh Ismail Issack, a prominent religious leader in Garissa County among other religious and community leaders.

SUPKEM DELEGATION ATTENDS FAITH LEADERS CONSULTATIVE MEETING ON PEACE

The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) is participating in a Faith Leaders Consultative Meeting on Peace at CORAT Africa, Nairobi, convened by World Vision International, Inter-Religious Council of Kenya and National Cohesion and Integration Commission.

The SUPKEM delegation, led by Head of Religious Affairs, Sheikh Yusuf Nassor Maki, includes County Interfaith Chairmen representing SUPKEM, alongside National Youth Leader, Brother Ibrahim Muchelule.

The meeting focuses on promoting political tolerance and responsible leadership; countering hate speech and misinformation on social media; strengthening early warning, mediation and rapid response to conflict; and advancing faith-based peace messaging and community engagement.

SUPKEM MVITA SUB-COUNTY CHAIRMAN TO ATTEND MENTAL HEALTH AWARENESS FORUM IN MOMBASA

MOMBASA, Kenya — The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) Mvita Sub-County will be represented at an upcoming mental health awareness forum aimed at promoting community dialogue, compassion and support for mental well-being.

SUPKEM Mvita Sub-County Chairman Rajabu Ismail is set to attend the Together We Rise Mental Health Talk scheduled for 27 August 2026 at Tononoka Social Hall in Mombasa, from 8:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.

The forum seeks to raise awareness on mental health, encourage open conversations and strengthen community support systems, particularly among young people.

SUPKEM recognises mental health as an important component of healthy and resilient communities and continues to encourage families, community leaders and stakeholders to promote awareness, compassion and timely support for those facing mental health challenges.

The event will bring together community stakeholders and members of the public to foster greater understanding and collective action towards building healthier communities.

SUPKEM CONGRATULATES NATIONAL CHAIRMAN ALHAJJ HASSAN OLE NAADO ON HIS REAPPOINTMENT TO NACADA

The Supreme Council of Kenya Muslims (SUPKEM) congratulates its National Chairman, Alhajj Hassan Kirua Ole Naado, on his reappointment as a member of the Board of the National Authority for the Campaign Against Alcohol and Drug Abuse (NACADA) for a further three-year term.

The reappointment, made by the Cabinet Secretary for Interior and National Administration, Hon. Onesimus Kipchumba Murkomen, takes effect on September 2, 2026, and reflects the confidence placed in Alhajj Ole Naado’s extensive experience in governance, peacebuilding, conflict resolution, community engagement and countering violent extremism.

As Kenya continues to confront the growing challenge of alcohol and drug abuse, particularly among young people, SUPKEM welcomes the opportunity for its National Chairman to continue contributing to national efforts aimed at prevention, public awareness, treatment, rehabilitation and strengthening community-based interventions.

SUPKEM recognises that addressing substance abuse requires a collective approach involving government institutions, religious organisations, families, schools, communities and other stakeholders.
