👏👏More than 500+ young people have gathered for the 7th Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania (ELCT) Youth Congress (5th -9th August) - a powerful moment of worship, learning, fellowship, and spiritual growth...

🇰🇪🇰🇪 This year's gathering is enriched by the presence of Six (6) youth leaders, activists and advocates from the Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church (KELC), strengthening the bonds of Lutheran fellowship across our LUCCEA sub-region.

The participation of Mr. Brian Muyunga, All Africa Conference of Churches (AACC) - Executive Secretary for Youth, further highlights our commitment to ecumenical relationships and walking together in faith.

Being Lutheran is being ecumenical....

As the LUCCEA Youth Desk, we encourage and promote collaboration among our member churches, particularly through youth activities and initiatives.....

✅LWF Africa Youth Council Members and Youth Coordinators Meeting...

Earlier today, the LWF Africa Youth Council Members and Youth Coordinators held a meeting to discuss key matters concerning youth engagement and activities within the LWF member Churches in Africa....

The meeting was attended by three LWF Youth Council Members: P.J. Hanekom - LUCSA, Phiona Uwase - LUCCEA, and Moses Momoh - LUCCWA, as well as three LWF Youth Coordinators: Thapelo Thapnas - LUCSA, Bupe Kibiki - LUCCEA, and Baissini Athanase - LUCCWA

The meeting had three main objectives:

✅To discuss youth activities and engagement within the LWF member Churches in Africa, including updates on upcoming youth activities.

✅To receive feedback from the LWF Council Meeting held in June this year in Geneva, particularly on matters concerning youth.

✅To discuss youth engagement in the upcoming Africa Lutheran Church Leadership Consultation (ALCLC 2026), which is expected to be held in Johannesburg this August.

It was a fruitful and energetic discussion that brought together youth leaders from across the three African subregions, creating momentum for stronger youth engagement and collaboration in the months ahead.....

✅ Today, LUCCEA Youth came together to explore "Entrepreneurship for a Sustainable Future"—a powerful conversation on innovation, stewardship, and creating lasting change in our communities....

A heartfelt thank you to our keynote speaker and our fellow youth from Kenya Evangelical Lutheran Church, and every participant who joined, shared ideas, and contributed to the discussion.

Together, we are raising a generation of young leaders and entrepreneurs committed to building a future that is economically empowered, socially responsible, and environmentally sustainable.

Applications for the Certificate in Climate Justice and Faith are due just one week from tomorrow! In this program you'll be part of a cohort of 8-12 people from around the world. Together, you'll learn about the science of climate change, develop a community of support, gain communication skills, and explore how your faith is calling you to address the climate crisis. At the end of the program, you'll put everything you've learned to use through a Sacred Action Project that helps further climate justice in your community. The Africa Human Rights, Gender and Climate Justice Workshop:

The workshop was held in Arusha, Tanzania from 26–29 May, bringing together delegates from LWF member churches, interfaith partners, civil society organizations, UN Women Zanzibar, and ecumenical institutions to strengthen collaboration in the face of growing challenges to women’s rights, environmental defenders, and broader human rights protections.

Leaders and advocates from across the LUCCEA sub-region, including General Secretary LoeRose Mbise and Youth Coordinator, Bupe Kibiki participated. Other LUCCEA member churches Delegates i.e from Madagascar, Kenya, Rwanda, and Ethiopia also participated, contributing diverse perspectives and experiences to the dialogue.

Together, participants explored strategies for advancing human rights, gender justice, and climate justice while fostering solidarity and collective action across the region.

As part of the workshop, participants undertook a field visit to the headquarters of the East African Court of Justice in Arusha, where they gained firsthand insight into the functioning of regional human rights and justice mechanisms and learned how African human rights systems operate in practice.
