MARCIA KIDS CENTER (MAKICE) is a program associated to Brethren fellowship Ministries a church registered in Kenya. The program works with vulnerable kids in Nairobi informal settlements and parts of Kakamega County where poverty has hit the counties seriously. So far in Nairobi we work with 133 kids and in Kakamega, we have over 150 kids. The overall objective of the program is to set up orphanag
es where kids that are vulnerable and orphans can be catered for fully. At MAKICE, we advocate for Community-to-Community partner relationship model. While many great organizations exist to provide individual sponsorship opportunities, we believe that holistic transformation in the world’s poorest communities occurs when one community partners with another. Through this proven model, we intend to connect communities around the globe with communities of vulnerable children and their caretakers in Kenya. Our approach hopes to leverage the power of relationships to see long-term transformation occur in the lives of children and their surrounding communities. With time, these relationships are geared to empower children to survive, thrive, and succeed. MAKICE allows individuals, churches, small group, social network, or business to partner with a specific Centre in Nairobi or Kakamega to provide support. The location you support becomes a virtual extension of your own community, and members of your community are able to directly sponsor individual children at one of our centres. We believe when your entire community embraces the vision to support an entire community in a developing country, the concept of relationship building moves to a whole new level. Since inception MAKICE has been supporting and intends to support kids in the following areas:
Physical Needs: Basic needs such as food, water, shelter, clothing education and healthcare are the first priorities addressed when engaging with a community in need. These most basic needs are met through child sponsorship and the programs set in place by MAKICE , which vary from community to community. Emotional Needs: Orphaned and vulnerable children crave a sense of “family” and the love and care that comes with being a part of a family unit. Our survival strategy focuses on helping to meet that need with consistent caregivers and friends, and the ongoing love and support of a relationship with a sponsor community. Spiritual Needs: Christian counselling and mentoring is an important aspect of the survival strategy. Regular discipleship classes are a part of every kid we support, and the relationships formed with sponsors help place God’s value on the orphaned and vulnerable children in these communities. OUR MISSION: MAKICE exists to glorify God by releasing the potential of orphaned and vulnerable children and their communities through partnerships that cultivate holistic transformation. MAKICE engages individuals, churches and other Christian communities in long-term par
