*FAITH*
Sabbath: March 07, 2026
*Scripture Reading: James 2:14-24*
James 2:14 What doth it profit, my brethren, though a man say he hath faith, and have not works? can faith save him?
James 2:15 If a brother or sister be naked, and destitute of daily food,
James 2:16 And one of you say unto them, Depart in peace, be ye warmed and filled; notwithstanding ye give them not those things which are needful to the body; what doth it profit?
James 2:17 Even so faith, if it hath not works, is dead, being alone.
James 2:18 Yea, a man may say, Thou hast faith, and I have works: shew me thy faith without thy works, and I will shew thee my faith by my works.
James 2:19 Thou believest that there is one God; thou doest well: the devils also believe, and tremble.
James 2:20 But wilt thou know, O vain man, that faith without works is dead?
James 2:21 Was not Abraham our father justified by works, when he had offered Isaac his son upon the altar?
James 2:22 Seest thou how faith wrought with his works, and by works was faith made perfect?
James 2:23 And the scripture was fulfilled which saith, Abraham believed God, and it was imputed unto him for righteousness: and he was called the Friend of God.
James 2:24 Ye see then how that by works a man is justified, and not by faith only.
*Memory Verse: Ephesians 2:8*
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
Introduction: Faith is mandatory for our salvation. No one can be saved without it. So, what is faith?
*Question 1.* Why is faith necessary in the life of a Saint? Hebrews 11:6
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
*Question 2*. Why can we not please God without faith? Hebrews 11:6
Hebrews 11:6 But without faith it is impossible to please him: for he that cometh to God must believe that he is, and that he is a rewarder of them that diligently seek him.
*Question 3*. Since faith is mandatory, what is faith? Hebrews 11:1
Hebrews 11:1 Now faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen.
*Question 4.* What great event must we believe in to demonstrate that we have faith in the Creator? Hebrews 11:3
Hebrews 11:3 Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear.
*Question 5*. Noah was warned of God, but could not see the future. Is Noah performing the commandment of God? Is that faith? Hebrews 11:7
Hebrews 11:7 By faith Noah, being warned of God of things not seen as yet, moved with fear, prepared an ark to the saving of his house; by the which he condemned the world, and became heir of the righteousness which is by faith.
*Question 6.* Abraham was called of God to receive an inheritance. Is Abraham performing the commandment of God? Is that faith? Hebrews 11:8
Hebrews 11:8 By faith Abraham, when he was called to go out into a place which he should after receive for an inheritance, obeyed; and he went out, not knowing whither he went.
*Question 7*. How much faith did Abraham have in God? Hebrews 11:17-19
Hebrews 11:17 By faith Abraham, when he was tried, offered up Isaac: and he that had received the promises offered up his only begotten son,
Hebrews 11:18 Of whom it was said, That in Isaac shall thy seed be called:
Hebrews 11:19 Accounting that God was able to raise him up, even from the dead; from whence also he received him in a figure.
*Question 8*. How does God respond to our faith? Luke 7:50; Luke 18:42; Ephesians 2:8
Luke 7:50 And he said to the woman, Thy faith hath saved thee; go in peace.
Luke 18:42 And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee.
Ephesians 2:8 For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:
*Conclusion:* Faith is not only belief. It is the actions based on our belief. Noah and Abraham obeyed God's command. That is faith.
