THE LIFE OF FAITH

(2). The Anchor of Faith

Key Scripture Heb.12.2 looking unto Jesus, the author and finisher of our faith, who for the joy that was set before Him endured the cross, despising the shame, and has sat down at the right hand of the throne of God

Supporting Scriptures: John 20:31; Romans 3:21–26

Yesterday we established that faith is born through divine revelation (Romans 10:17). Today we establish its anchor. Faith that is not anchored in Christ will eventually drift.

The strength of faith is measured by the certainty of the One in whom we believe. Jesus Christ is the anchor of faith. His Person is immutable, and His finished work is complete. John wrote that we might believe in Him and have life through His name (John 20:31), while Paul declares that righteousness is received through faith in Jesus Christ because of His atoning sacrifice (Romans 3:21–26).

Faith does not cling to promises apart from Christ; it clings to Christ, in whom every promise of God is secured. Therefore, when circumstances shake us, our faith remains steadfast because its anchor is not in this world but in the unchanging Son of God.

Meditation: Faith is only as secure as its anchor. Since Christ is unchanging, faith anchored in Him can never be disappointed.

THE LIFE OF FAITH

The Revelation That Produces Faith

Key Scripture:Rom.10.17 Consequently, faith comes from hearing the message, and the message is heard through the word of Christ(NIV)

Grace and peace to you in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

Faith does not originate in the human heart; it is awakened by divine revelation. The source of genuine faith is not human resolve but the revelation of God through His Word.

The Apostle Paul declares, "So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the word of Christ" (Romans 10:17). As the Holy Spirit unveils the Person and work of Christ, the heart is persuaded of the certainty of what God has spoken.

This principle is evident throughout Scripture. "By faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God" (Hebrews 11:3). Faith begins with God's revelation. Likewise, Jesus said, "The words that I speak to you are spirit, and they are life" (John 6:63). The Word not only informs the mind; it imparts life to the spirit, producing the faith by which we receive and walk with Christ.

Where His Word is received, faith is born; where His Word is embraced, faith matures.

Welcome to today's meditation on the riches of God's grace

Heb.2.16 - For indeed He does not give aid to angels, but He does give aid to the seed of Abraham.

Though fallen by sin, man was never abandoned to despair. The image of God was marred, but not erased. In Christ, fallen humanity is offered regeneration, reconciliation, and restored fellowship with God a grace Scripture never extends to fallen angels.

Redemption is not God's response to every fall; it is His gift to fallen humanity through Christ.

Grace and peace to you in the knowledge of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The redemption accomplished in Christ possesses the inherent moral efficacy to restore man to the life for which he was created (unbroken fellowship with God.) Through our union with Christ, sanctification is no longer merely an ethical pursuit but the inevitable outworking of His indwelling life. Redemption does not simply alter our standing before God; it transforms our state, conforming us to the image of the Son by the operation of the Spirit.

The goal of redemption is not merely deliverance from sin, but participation in the life of Christ

REDEMPTION : The triumph of God's Eternal Purpose

Grace and peace be multiplied unto you through the knowledge of God and of Jesus our Lord.

Eph.1.7 - In Him we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace

The Greek word for Redemption is apolytrosis which means a release secured by the payment of a ransom. In Scripture, redemption is more than emancipation,it is the triumph of God's eternal purpose over the ruin of the fall.

Redemption is not God's reaction to sin; it is the unveiling of the Lamb foreordained before the foundation of the world (1 Peter 1:19–20).Before man fell, God had already purposed the Cross. Calvary was not an afterthought in history; it was central to eternity.

The first Adam plunged humanity into corruption, death, and separation from the life of God (Romans 5:12; Ephesians 4:18).The Last Adam entered that very condition not merely to reverse its effects, but to inaugurate an entirely new order of humanity (1 Corinthians 15:45–49). Redemption, therefore, is not the repair of the old creation; it is the birth of the new.

Through His own blood, Christ obtained eternal redemption (Hebrews 9:12). The efficacy of His sacrifice is measured not by the severity of man's fall, but by the infinite worth of His Person. Because the Redeemer is eternal, the redemption He secured is eternal. It requires no repetition, no supplement, and no improvement(Hebrews 10:12–14).

The redeemed do not merely possess a better future; they belong to a new creation, live under a new covenant, and stand before God in the righteousness of His Son (2 Corinthians 5:17, 21). Redemption has forever altered our identity, our standing, and our destiny.

Meditation

To live with the consciousness of redemption is to cease viewing yourself through the lens of Adam and to behold yourself in Christ.

Forgiveness: The Triumph of Christ's Finished Work

Greetings in the precious name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

The Cross is God's eternal declaration that mercy has triumphed over sin.

In whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His grace. Ephesians 1:7

One of the greatest revelations of the Gospel is that God's forgiveness is not rooted in human effort but in Christ's finished work. Many seek forgiveness through prayers, tears, promises, or personal sacrifice, yet Scripture points us to a different foundation: Jesus Christ and Him crucified.

The question is not, "What must I do to make God forgive me?" but rather, "What has Christ already done for me?"

The answer is found at the Cross.

Why does God forgive?
Because Jesus bore the full penalty for sin. God's forgiveness flows from His justice being satisfied in Christ. "Christ died for our sins according to the Scriptures" (1 Corinthians 15:3)

How does God forgive?
Through the shedding of Christ's blood.
Without shedding of blood there is no remission"(Hebrews 9:22). Jesus offered Himself once and for all, obtaining eternal redemption for us (Hebrews 9:12).

When is forgiveness received?
The moment a person believes the Gospel. Through His name whosoever believeth in Him shall receive remission of sins" (Acts 10:43). Forgiveness is not earned by works; it is received by faith.

The believer therefore stands before God not as one striving to be forgiven, but as one who has been forgiven, justified, and accepted in Christ (Romans 5:1; Colossians 2:13).

Today, rest in this glorious truth: forgiveness is not the reward of your performance; it is the gift of God's grace through Jesus Christ.The Cross has spoken, the debt has been paid, and all who believe are freely forgiven.

May your heart continually rest in the sufficiency of Christ's finished work.

The message of Christ lays hold upon a man with the intention to alter him, to mold him again and again after another image and make of him something altogether different from what he had been before.
The gospel not only furnishes transforming power to remold the human heart; it provides also a model after which the new life is to be fashioned, and that model is Christ Himself
