In the beautiful, coastal landscape of Kipini Sub-Parish, a quiet yet powerful transformation is taking place. Guided by the gospel call to be "the salt of the earth and the light of the world," our office today converged here to conduct a vital training for the Catholic Justice and Peace Department (CJPD).

This profound milestone would not have been possible without the unwavering support and leadership of Father Kamil, the Parish Priest. His immense dedication to integrating faith with social action opened the doors for this training, ensuring that the church continues to stand as a beacon of hope, fairness, and reconciliation for the entire community.

True community transformation requires every voice to be heard. That is why the diverse makeup of this new cohort is a profound reason to celebrate. A total of 11 new members stepped forward to answer the callcomprising 6 males and 5 females, perfectly embodying the shared responsibility of leadership.

More than just numbers, these individuals represent a complete tapestry of our church community. They have been drawn from local outstations and the four core pillars of church life:

* The Catholic Women Association (CWA): Bringing nurturing leadership and grassroots mobilization.
* The Catholic Men Association (CMA): Providing steadfast pillar support and guidance.
* The Youth: Infusing the commission with energy, fresh ideas, and future vision.
* The Catechists: Ensuring our pursuit of justice remains deeply rooted in sound faith and doctrine.

By embedding CJPD members within each of these vital institutions, the message of peace will naturally weave into every corner of parish life.

To champion peace effectively, passion must be paired with knowledge. Over the course of the training, the new members immersed themselves in three core pillars designed to equip them for the realities of modern community ministry:

* 1. Driving the Lenten Campaign
The annual Lenten Campaign is a cornerstone of Catholic social action. The newly trained members were thoroughly prepared to lead and implement these seasonal themes, turning the period of reflection, fasting, and almsgiving into tangible, community-wide acts of justice and charity.
* 2. Understanding CJPD Structures
Effectiveness requires organization. Participants mapped out the operations of the Commission, learning how information, resources, and advocacy flow seamlessly from the grassroots sub-parish level all the way to the national secretariat.
* 3. Governance, Democracy, and Development
True peace is built on the foundation of justice. The training empowered members to understand their civic duties and participate actively in governance and democratic processes. By bridging the gap between faith and civic responsibility, they are now equipped to foster sustainable development within both the church and the wider society.

As these 11 members were inducted, the atmosphere in Kipini was one of profound hope. They are not merely committee members; they are ambassadors of Christ’s peace, taskforce leaders against injustice, and advocates for the marginalized.

With the solid foundation laid during this training and the continued pastoral guidance of Fr. Kamil, we look forward to seeing Kipini Sub-Parish flourish as a model of development, unity, and integrity.

This week, we are called to listen with compassion to the "cry of the Earth" and the communities most affected by environmental destruction. When our forests disappear and rivers dry up, both creation and human dignity are wounded. Caring for our environment is not just a civic duty—it is a spiritual responsibility rooted in love for God and our neighbors.

Plant Trees: Join community efforts to plant indigenous, fruit, and medicinal trees.

Practice Stewardship: Ensure proper disposal of plastics and waste to prevent contamination of our shared resources.

Protect Our Water: Regularly clean and maintain local water sources.

Let us work together to transform barren places back into sources of life and secure a healthy future for all Kenyans.

This Week 4, we reflect on the story of Kameni, a young man who was lured into the trap of "fast money" through cybercrime and hacking. Like many today, he faced the dark side of technology—manipulation and the pressure to succeed at any cost.

But Kameni’s story didn't end in a prison cell. Through the Church, he gained ethical digital skills and turned his life around.

The Lesson: Technology is a powerful tool for education and innovation, but without ethical guidance, it can become a tool for exploitation. Let's support our youth in navigating the digital landscape with wisdom and integrity.
