When Faith Meets the Rain: A Covenant Rekindled
This Sunday, heaven blessed St. John Kamae Parish with gentle, persistent rain, nourishing the land and inspiring a sense of renewal. Despite the damp morning, Christians arrived faithfully — umbrellas raised, raincoats secured, children guided with care, and hearts aflame with devotion. The rain became a symbol of divine grace and God’s sustaining presence.
Inside the sanctuary, the atmosphere radiated warmth, unity, and reverence, reflecting the devotion of the congregation.
Ev. Danson Mbuthia delivered a compelling message on the Renewal of the Covenant, urging the congregation to uphold every vow. He reminded all:
> “When you swear, it becomes a covenant — and a covenant must be kept.”
He shared key milestones in his own spiritual journey — Baptism, Confirmation, venturing into ministry, and other significant dates — each marking vows faithfully renewed. He also reminded worshippers of the vows made during the Consecration of the church and highlighted biblical figures who honored their covenants, including Abraham, Joshua, and David, demonstrating that faithfulness brings God’s blessings.
The congregation also welcomed a new member, Regina Waithera, recently settled in the area, celebrating her addition with applause and heartfelt greetings.
Voices of praise rose above the gentle patter of rain. Children laughed under protective covers, youth assisted elders, and all reflected on the rain as a symbol of cleansing, renewal, and God’s abiding presence. By the end of the service, the rains ceased, leaving a serene atmosphere that mirrored the peace and joy in worshippers’ hearts.
The congregation prayed together and shared the Grace, lingering afterward to encourage one another and reflect on their covenantal commitments. Today, the rain did not deter devotion; it enhanced the worship experience, a vivid emblem of God’s mercy and the covenantal relationship with His people.
Come rain or shine, the covenant
