ELCK LAKE DIOCESE HOLDS PASTORS AND TREASURERS' WORKSHOP
The Evangelical Lutheran Church in Kenya (ELCK) Lake Diocese on, 1st June, 2026, successfully conducted a one-day Pastors and Treasurers' Workshop at ELCK Cathedral -Kisumu, bringing together church leaders from across the diocese for a day of reflection, learning, and strategic planning.
Speaking during the workshop, the Bishop of ELCK Lake Diocese, Titus Okoda, challenged pastors to serve the Lord diligently and remain closely connected to their congregants.
"Let us know our congregants, have their contacts and regularly reach out to them, occasionally establishing their whereabouts," he said.
The Bishop further urged church ministers to uphold integrity and accountability in their service.
"Let us not draw our salaries unjustly. The way we relate with our congregants will also influence the way they offer to God and even take care of your welfare," he added.
Addressing the participants, Rev. Martin Orende encouraged pastors and treasurers to mobilize members towards achieving the Diocese's 2026 Thanksgiving target of KSh 3 million.
"For sustainability to be realized, we must teach our people the need to give excellently as Paul says in 1 Corinthians 8:1," he emphasized.
On his part, Dr. Owuondo Sylvester extensively discussed the subject of financial sustainability within the Church. He stressed the importance of every parish developing and implementing an annual budget proposal to guide its operations and enhance accountability.
Also in attendance were Pauline Odanga and Olive Oudu of Holistic Nurturing Health Hub CBO. They sensitized the attendees on the need to offer support and prevention of infant disabilities such as autism. They added that stigma is one of the greatest challenge to the affected and even the parents to such children. The duo advocated for partnership in ensuring healthy living.
The workshop provided a valuable platform for leaders to share ideas and strengthen stewardship practices aimed at advancing the mission of the Church. By the end of the session, participants expressed their appreciation for the training and requested that future workshops be extended beyond one day, noting that the discussions were timely, insightful, and highly beneficial.

*Embrace God’s Mercy and Fulfill Your Purpose*

Lamentations 3:22-23 reminds us, *"The steadfast love of the Lord never ceases; His mercies never come to an end; they are new every morning; great is your faithfulness."*

Each new day is not just a passage of time but a divine gift from God, a fresh opportunity to walk confidently in His purpose, grace, and strength.

Recognizing that God's mercies are renewed each morning, we are inspired to begin every day with renewed hope, focus, and trust in His promises.

*Three Keys to a day Full of Blessings*

1. *Prioritize His Kingdom (Matthew 6:33)*

Start your day by dedicating your time and efforts to God. Seek His guidance in your work, relationships, and decisions, asking, *"Lord, how can I glorify You today?"*
When? What time
2. *Choose Faith Over Fear (Isaiah 41:10)*

No matter the challenges ahead, cling to God’s promise of His unwavering presence. Declare daily: *"I can do all things through Christ who gives me strength"* (Philippians 4:13). This mindset empowers you to overcome any obstacle.

3. *Shine Your Light (Matthew 5:16)*

Let your words and actions reflect Jesus’ love. Be intentional in encouraging others, showing kindness, and sharing hope.Your faithfulness can transform someone’s week.

*Prayer*
Heavenly Father, thank You for this new day. Guide my steps, guard my heart, and use me for Your glory. Help me to trust You fully in every situation. In Jesus’ name, Amen.

“Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!”

Dear brothers and sisters in Christ, and people of goodwill across the world,

On this blessed occasion of Easter, I extend to you all warm greetings of grace, peace, and hope in the name of our risen Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Easter is the heart of the Christian faith. It proclaims the victory of life over death, light over darkness, and hope over despair. The empty tomb is not just a historical event—it is God’s powerful declaration that sin has been conquered, death has been defeated, and salvation is freely given to all who believe.

In a world burdened by conflict, suffering, uncertainty, and division, the message of Easter speaks with fresh power: Christ is our peace and our hope. Through His resurrection, we are assured that no situation is beyond God’s redeeming grace.

I therefore call upon:

- Leaders of nations to pursue justice, peace, and reconciliation.
- The Church to remain faithful in proclaiming Christ crucified and risen.
- Families and communities to embrace love, forgiveness, and unity.
- All people to look to the cross and the empty tomb, where true life is found.

Let us walk as people of the resurrection—bearing witness to Christ through acts of compassion, truth, and service. Let us not lose heart, for our Lord lives, and because He lives, we also shall live.

May the risen Christ fill your hearts with joy, strengthen your faith, and guide your steps.

Happy Easter to you all!

Christ is Risen! He is Risen Indeed! Alleluia!
