JOURNEYING WITH YOUNG PEOPLE – AMECEA 2026 CAMPAIGN

This Week's Theme for Discussion

The Digital Continent: Evangelization on TikTok, Facebook, YouTube, and AI

Focus: Embracing the "Digital Continent" as a genuine missionary space by promoting digital discipleship, ethical engagement, and the responsible use of Artificial Intelligence.

We must stop thinking of the internet as merely a tool; it is a territory. For many young people today, the digital world is not simply a place they visit—it is where they spend much of their lives, build relationships, seek information, and shape their identities. If the Church is not present in this space, we are not just missing a technological trend; we are missing an entire generation.

Too often, social media is used as a digital noticeboard for announcements and events. However, Generation Z is searching for something deeper. They are not looking for more content alone; they are looking for authentic connection, belonging, and meaningful engagement. The Church is therefore called to move beyond simply broadcasting messages and instead accompany young people as they navigate the digital streets of today's world.

The Call to Action

Young people are the true digital natives of our age. Rather than fearing technology and digital platforms, we should empower them to become missionaries in the digital space—witnesses of faith, hope, and love in a world shaped by algorithms and artificial intelligence.

The next great mission field is no longer across oceans or distant lands; it is already in the palm of our hands. Let us equip, trust, and encourage our young people to become apostles of the Digital Continent, bringing the Gospel to every corner of the online world.
