BISHOP'S HOMILY – CLERGY CHAPTER (10th June 2026)
Text: Acts 6:1–7
The early Church faced challenges as it grew, including complaints that some widows were being neglected. The Apostles responded by delegating practical responsibilities to seven men of integrity so they could focus on prayer and the ministry of the Word.
Key lessons for us:
✅ Delegate responsibilities to avoid burnout and neglect of family.
✅ Focus on your primary calling and avoid trying to do everything yourself.
✅ Strengthen and utilize the ministry of deacons as intended in the Anglican tradition.
✅ Establish clear policies and procedures to guide ministry and administration.
✅ Work with people of integrity and support them in fulfilling the Church's vision.
✅ Stay close to the people you serve. Ministry grows when clergy remain accessible and engaged with their congregations.
✅ Correct Christians with love, mercy, and dignity, avoiding unnecessary public embarrassment.
✅ Prioritize discipleship and confirmation ministry. Every parish should strive to have a confirmation service annually.
✅ Re-energize parish departments, cell groups, and congregations for intentional growth.
"Where there is proper administration, ministry flourishes and the Church grows." Just as in Acts 6, when responsibilities were well managed, the Word of God spread and the number of disciples increased greatly.
May we serve faithfully, support one another, and work together for the growth of our parishes and Diocese.
