# THURSDAY--CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET?
# **SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON # 2--A DAY IN THE MINISTRY OF JESUS**

In several of His miracles, Christ asks people to remain silent--to keep the secret of that miracle. What was the reason of this request of Christ? Especially in today’s topic with a l***r that He touched and cleansed.

Well, thank you for joining us in Bible lessons today, I the topic: “Can you keep a secret?”

Welcome to Bible Lessons a space to study and understand the Word of God. Mark 1:40

**40 A man with leprosy[[h](https://www.biblegateway.com/passage/?search=Mark%201&version=NIV -NIV-24256h)] came to him and begged him on his knees, “If you are willing, you can make me clean.”**

This incident brings us several lessons:

1. Leprosy which is a skin disease, is in the Bible a symbol of sin. We are all l***rs, we are all infected by sin. So, this example, what is going to happen here is a physical and material healing, that is exactly like the spiritual healing that Christ wants to give us. He wants to heal us all from sin. He wants to free us all from the problem of sin.

2. > I love the faith of this person with leprosy because in verse 40 he said, if You want to, You can cleanse me. This phrase shows a deep faith, a big faith, an immense faith. “If you want,” because it is God’s will. Lord, if you do not me to be healed, and this is, to be saved, do not heal me. But if you want to and I will serve you, you can cleanse me. When we ask for prayers for the sick, we must be very careful, what is the objective that we ask? That He keeps him alive, just to live, or to keep him alive for a good and great service and not so that people remain alive to do harm, or destruction, or auto destruction.

3. Christ touches him, in verse 41 in Mark 1 it reads**-- 41 Jesus was indignant. He reached out his hand and touched the man. “I am willing,” he said. “Be clea

# WEDNESDAY--THE SECRET OF JESUS’ MINISTRY
# **SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON # 2--A DAY IN THE MINISTRY OF JESUS**

What is the secret of the Ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. It is unfair to try to point out a secret. It is unfair to say that a successful ministry depends on one aspect only. There are some things in the Lord’s Ministry that show us why His Ministry was so successful. One of them which is the emphasis of Wednesday’s lesson is the life of prayer of the Lord Jesus Christ. The Lord dedicated time for prayer. The Lord dedicated time to have communion with God, a communion with the Father. The Biblical text presents Christ, waking up very early to be in the presence of the Father. Today, science, the scholars, the motivational, sow the importance of taking time for personal meditation. The Bible talks about that for thousands of years, showing the importance of prayer, being in silence listening to God’s voice, being in silence in communion with God. Now, we have to be careful not to transform our communion with God into something mechanical. The Bible shows that Christ woke up very early to pray, but at the same time the Bible shows that the Lord spent the whole night in prayer. Dear ones, the essence of the Christian life is my relationship with God--which is to be connected to the vine, to life. To pray is not just something I do and that is it. Even the author of the lesson, in a very interesting way presents the Greek grammar saying that praying was a continuous action for the Lord Jesus Christ. That means that communion with God is not something I do at 5 in the morning to 6 AM. **Communion with God is something I do 24 hours a day; through a sermon, through a video in YouTube, through the music I listen in my car. This material that you are reading today is my attempt to help you in your communion with God, being each day more connected with Him, every day more in His presence. **Dear ones, let’s no

# TUESDAY--MORE SABBATH MINISTRIES.
# **SABBATH SCHOOL LESSON # 2--A DAY IN THE MINISTRY OF JESUS**

This lesson is a follow up on the Sabbath of the Lord, After the experience in the synagogue apparently, they go to Peter’s house where Peter’s mother-in law is sick. And one of the first things Christ does is to heal the mother-in law. The Bible mentions that she had a fever, and that was practically a death sentence in Biblical times where they did not know much about illnesses, and there were no medicines available, as there are today. But one thing that draws attention is that as soon as the mother-in law is healed she dedicates herself to serv Christ, and here is one of the most beautiful teachings from the Gospels. All of Christ blessings are to lead us to service, all the blessings we receive are to lead us to do something for the Lord. No one is blessed by God to just be sitting at home. no! No one receives heaven’s blessing to stay doing nothing. If salvation comes into my life and it does not make me enter into some type of ministry, some type of work, so it is probably because either I did not understand what salvation -is or I simply do not value what I receive from God. Peter’s mother-in law is a gigantic example. Of someone who is healed and begins to serve. Which brings us to the emphasis of the Ministry of the Lord Jesus Christ. Jesus was never dedicated to preaching. **The Ministry of Christ was not about preaching, but about caring for people.** The ministry has to be focused on people, and not on the institution, not in the preaching, not in the numbers. We make a very big mistake as an institution and as a church by thinking that ministering is about numbers, money, baptisms. The emphasis of the ministry has to be people. So, much so that the Biblical text shows that Christ after sunset, because it was a city where everyone kept the Sabbath. So, after sunset the people gathered together and

# **MONDAY -- AN UNFORGETABLE WORSHIP SERVICE**
# **Sabbath School Lesson # 2--A Day in the Ministry of Jesus**

LET’S READ Mark 1:21-28

**21 They went to Capernaum, and when the Sabbath came, Jesus went into the synagogue and began to teach. 22 The people were amazed at his teaching, because he taught them as one who had authority, not as the teachers of the law. 23 Just then a man in their synagogue who was possessed by an impure spirit cried out, 24 “What do you want with us, Jesus of Nazareth? Have you come to destroy us? I know who you are—the Holy One of God!”**

**25 “Be quiet!” said Jesus sternly. “Come out of him!” 26 The impure spirit shook the man violently and came out of him with a shriek.**

**27 The people were all so amazed that they asked each other, “What is this? A new teaching—and with authority! He even gives orders to impure spirits and they obey him.” 28 News about him spread quickly over the whole region of Galilee.**

What unforgettable experience happened in the Capernaum synagogue, and what spiritual truths can we take from this account?

Tl answer we will refer back to Mark 1:21-22- Where Mark says it was a Sabbath in the synagogue and they were amazed of His doctrine.

Then in verses 23-24--it talks to us about a demon-possessed who identified and confronted Jesus.

In verse 25--Jesus told him, shut up, and get out of him. Today we are going to have a super interesting topic where we are going to learn wonderful things.

Most Christians treasure unforgettable moments of their Christian Path. How many activities have we had to share with the brothers? How many moments of worship can not only be unforgettable, but also transformative? How many times have we been touched by a sermon or an activity? We have seen the presence of the Holy Spirit. That could have been the experience of some in Capernaum that Sabbath. It said that they were amazed by his teachings. Can you imagine, to

# SUNDAY-FOLLOW ME
# **Sabbath School Lesson # 2--A Day in the Ministry of Jesus**

Mark 1:16-20

**16 As Jesus walked beside the Sea of Galilee, he saw Simon and his brother Andrew casting a net into the lake, for they were fishermen. 17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.” 18 At once they left their nets and followed him.**

**19 When he had gone a little farther, he saw James son of Zebedee and his brother John in a boat, preparing their nets. 20 Without delay he called them, and they left their father Zebedee in the boat with the hired men and followed him.**

The question is, who were the men to whom Jesus called as disciples and which was their answer?

In verses 16-19 we find the answer. Peter and Andrew, his brother, and John and James his brother. Jesus makes the call, and the answer is that they left everything and followed Him.

What is interesting is the context in Mark 1:17--not many words were said, Jesus said very little to these fishermen, Simon later called Peter and Andrew. So, we do not have much information, but no mention is made of a boat or other accessories, what could suggest they are not in a good financial situation, Peter and his brother. Apparently, the situation they had was quite complicated.

Unlike in Mark 1:19-20--where James and John are in a boat with their father and servants, what appears to indicate that they were in a better financial situation. So, here we have two types of scenarios, one that is fine economically, others who are not economically well. But Jesus of course is going to be their job, and this way Jesus calls to discipleship both those who have fewer resources and those who have more. That does not matter to Christ. What matters to Christ is what is behind in your heart. Never forget the call of Jesus to these men is simple, direct and prophetic. He calls them to follow Him, that simple. He will convert them into Fis
