*TRINITY SUNDAY SERMON
*THEME: KNOWING AND WORSHIPPING THE TRIUNE GOD
*SCRIPTURE: Isaiah 6:1–8, John 16:12–15*
INTRODUCTION
Trinity Sunday is a day set apart to reflect on one of the greatest mysteries and truths of the Christian faith: God is One, yet revealed in Three Persons; Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The word Trinity means three-in-one. The word Trinity does not appear in the Bible. However, the concept is clearly taught.
The Bible is full of Scripture speaking of there being only one God (_Deuteronomy 6:4_) as well as the Father, Son, and Holy Spirit all being God. That’s where the confusion comes from.
Passages such as _Genesis 1:26_ — “Let us make mankind in our image.”; _Genesis 11:7_ — “Come, let us go down.” And _Isaiah 6:8_ — “Who will go for us?” attributes to Three members of Trinity.
THE THREE PERSONS OF TRINITY
1. *The FATHER:* The Source of Creation and Love
The Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things.
He is "Our Father in heaven..." _Matthew 6:9_
The Father loves, provides, protects, guides, and disciplines His children.
2. *THE SON:* The Revelation of God's Grace
Jesus Christ is God the Son.
He came into the world to reveal the Father and redeem humanity from sin.
On the cross Jesus bore our sins, and through His resurrection He opened the way to eternal life.
3. *THE HOLY SPIRIT:* The Presence and Power of God
The Holy Spirit is not merely a force or influence. He is God.
The Holy Spirit Convicts us of sin, Guides us into truth, Empowers Christian witness.
Without the Holy Spirit, Christianity becomes merely a religion of rules but with the Holy Spirit, Christianity becomes a living relationship with God.
*THE TRINITY WORKING TOGETHER*
_Matthew 3:16–17_. At Jesus' baptism we see the Trinity clearly revealed. Here, The Son is baptized, The Spirit descends and The Father speaks.
_Matthew 28:19_. “Baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the Son and of the Holy Spirit.”
*UNDERSTANDING TRINITY*
Because the Trinity is ultimately a mystery that goes beyond human comprehension, analogies can help clarify the concept, though no analogy is perfect.
- *The Sun:* Imagine the sun as the Father (the source of light), the light rays as the Son (how we see and experience the sun), and the heat as the Holy Spirit (the power we feel). They are all one sun, but have different expressions.
- *The Triangle:* A triangle has three distinct corners, but it is still one single triangle.
- *Egg* – A single egg is made up of the yolk, the whites, and the shell.
To think we will ever fully understand the Trinity is to make the mistake of thinking God is fully understandable. God is infinite. He is beyond us (_Job 11:7-8, Isaiah 55:9_).
"If God was small enough for my brain to fully understand, He wouldn’t be big enough to save me!”
The doctrine of the Trinity is not a mathematical formula to be solved but a divine mystery to be worshipped. Christians do not worship three Gods; neither do we worship one God who merely appears in three different forms.
Rather, we worship _One God eternally existing in three distinct Persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit._
*CONCLUSION*
As we celebrate *Trinity Sunday,* we are reminded that our God is greater than our understanding, yet He has graciously revealed Himself to us as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit.
The Father created us and loves us with an everlasting love. The Son redeemed us through His death and resurrection. The Holy Spirit lives within us, guiding, comforting, and empowering us for holy living and faithful witness.
The Triune God still calls His people to worship Him, serve Him, and carry His message to the world. Therefore, let us _trust the Father's care, embrace the Son's salvation, and walk daily in the power of the Holy Spirit._
