Cohort 2 of our 40-Hour Professional Mediation Course is ongoing! 🎓
29th July to 2nd August 2026.

What an inspiring journey it is this week!

Participants have been deeply engaged, connecting mediation with real-life experiences and discovering practical ways to transform conflict into opportunities for dialogue, understanding, and reconciliation.

During a reflection a participant reminded us of the African proverb:
"The person inside the burning house cannot extinguish the fire."
This emphasized the importance of a neutral third party in conflict resolution.

And a memorable reminder from another participant that is already motivating fellow mediators:

✅ "Check yourself before you wreck the process."

These insights remind us that effective mediation begins with self-awareness, empathy, and the wisdom to listen deeply.

At the Centre for Inculturation, we are encouraged to see this training contributing to our mission of promoting peace, justice, reconciliation, and integral human development. In doing so, we contribute in the broader vision of the Universal Catholic Church of synodality fostering a culture of encounter, dialogue, human dignity, and peaceful coexistence among peoples and cultures.

Flying Together Through Dialogue

How can humanity soar toward peace in a world marked by division and misunderstanding?

Drawing on the Wings of Unity philosophy, Dr. Mohammad Ali Shomali reminds us that just as a bird needs two wings to fly, humanity flourishes when people of different faith traditions journey together in mutual respect and understanding.

Interreligious dialogue is not about becoming the same. It is about learning to walk together, listen deeply, and discover the values that unite us while appreciating our differences.

Like yeast that transforms dough from within, dialogue begins with simple acts of encounter,sharing life, serving others, engaging in meaningful conversation, and opening our hearts to one another's experiences.

When Christians and Muslims choose friendship over suspicion and encounter over distance, they become builders of a more peaceful and compassionate world.

Unity of God & Unity in God

"You cannot walk alongside a person without knocking down their feet or colliding with their feet." — African Proverb

Interreligious dialogue invites us to embrace this reality with humility and openness. Christians and Muslims may differ in tradition, practice, and theological understanding, yet they share a belief in God and a common calling to uphold human dignity, justice, compassion, and peace.

The theme "Unity of God & Unity in God" challenges us not only to acknowledge God as One, but also to allow God to become the foundation of our relationships with one another. When we place God at the centre, dialogue becomes more than conversation, it becomes a path toward encounter, understanding, and fraternity.

𝐖𝐞𝐞𝐤 𝐨𝐟 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐈𝐕 | 𝟏𝟒–𝟏𝟗 𝐉𝐮𝐧𝐞 𝟐𝟎𝟐𝟔

The Centre of Inculturation and Focolare NewHumanity Africa (FONA) at Mariapolis Piero are honoured to coordinate and participate in Week of Unity IV, an interfaith intensive program organised by the Focolare Movement in collaboration with the Risalat International Institute under the theme: "Unity of God & Unity in God."

Bringing together Christians and Muslims from different backgrounds, the program provides a space for dialogue, learning, and encounter. Throughout the week, participants will engage with topics that deepen understanding of the Christian and Muslim faith traditions while exploring the shared values that promote peace, mutual respect, and fraternity.

As one of the Centre of Inculturation's initiatives, interfaith dialogue seeks to foster a culture of encounter where people of different faiths can build relationships, appreciate diversity, and work together for the common good.

We look forward to a week of meaningful conversations, learning, and shared reflection.

We are grateful for the successful completion of a 40-hour Transformative Mediation course at the Centre for Inculturation, where 12 seminarians who are also Gens of the Focolare Movement, and 2 Focolarini are now certified as professional mediators. 👏👏👏

This marks a significant milestone for the Centre for Inculturation as well as the Focolare.org in service for the universal Catholic Church, opening new paths for peacebuilding rooted in the spirituality of unity.

Participants experienced a deep shift from imposing solutions to becoming facilitators of dialogue, helping others find their own path to reconciliation. They are now equipped to address conflicts in parishes, church groups, and families.

Guided and mentored by Communities Africa - ACA , we have the courage to walk a synodal path towards establishing a Dispute Resolution Centre serving the Church and beyond.

With gratitude and hope, we celebrate this new generation of mediators and builders of unity.

At the Centre for Inculturation, we continue pastoral capacity building to form religious and pastoral leaders who can promote integral human development and advance synodal peacebuilding in today’s world.

This week (11th -15th May 2026), 11 seminarians from various dioceses and seminaries and 2 members of the Focolare Movement are undergoing formation to become professional mediators as part of their experience in Mariapolis Piero, equipping themselves to become instruments of unity within their communities.

Rooted in the Spirituality of Unity, this training goes beyond technique. It is about forming a way of life grounded in dialogue, encounter, and relationships.

“That they may all be one” (John 17:21) is not just a theme; it is a mission.

We are grateful and honoured to be walking this path in collaboration with Amani Communities Africa - ACA , whose mentorship continues to enrich this process.

Peace is not accidental; it is intentionally formed.
