2023 FRUITFULNESS

Ps.65.11 You crown the year with a bountiful harvest; even the hard pathways overflow with abundance. (NLT)

16/12/2022

Precious people, ladies and gentlemen.
We interact with people at various seasons of their lives. The danger is wanting to compare and be like everyone!!!

For instance someone could be in their harvest season enjoying the fruit of their season and you are in your seed time, remain steadfast and keep sowing seed. Your harvest season will come.
SEASONS OF LIFE ARE ROTATIONAL AND THEY ARE NOT RUSHED!!!

Gen.8.22 "While the earth remains, Seedtime and harvest, Cold and heat, Winter and summer, And day and night Shall not cease." (NKJV)

GOD IS LOOKING OUT FOR YOU

Genesis 3:8-10

_8 And they heard the sound of the LORD God walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and Adam and his wife hid themselves from the presence of the LORD God among the trees of the garden. 9 Then the LORD God called to Adam and said to him, “Where are you?” 10 So he said, “I heard Your voice in the garden, and I was afraid because I was naked; and I hid myself.”_

The power of guilt is often underestimated. When people feel guilty, they behave in a number of ways. First, there are those who own up, approach the source they have wronged and seek reconciliation. There are those also who ignore their guilt feeling, convince themselves there is nothing wrong, even when it is eating them up. Then there are those who try to avoid the source they offended and wish their guilty feelings will just go away.

Can you think of people who after committing a serious sin stop coming to church and start hiding from every Christian they see; particularly those who know them as Christians? They hide till someone decides to go after them and win them back.

The third category simply acts like Adam did in the garden of Eden. When God called, they hid themselves. It is understandable. Guilt drives you away from your source of help. God wanted to restore them to Himself but they were ashamed and were running away instead.
Today, too many people who should be drawing close to God are running away from Him. God is looking out for all who have rebelled against Him and are paying dearly for it. God is not looking for people to condemn. He is looking for people to redeem and restore unto Himself again.

SUNDAY 27 FEBRUARY

FOR YOU AND YOUR FAMILY

Acts 16:31-34

_31 So they said, “Believe on the Lord Jesus Christ, and you will be saved, you and your household.” 32 Then they spoke the word of the Lord to him and to all who were in his house. 33 And he took them the same hour of the night and washed their stripes. And immediately he and all his family were baptized. 34 Now when he had brought them into his house, he set food before them; and he rejoiced, having believed in God with all his household._

One common observation is that in some homes you find only one person who is born again. There are homes also, that everyone is born again; but sadly, that is rare. That is not how God intended things to be. From the time of Noah and Abraham, God has affirmed His commitment to saving people by families. God’s testimony of Abraham for example, was that he would teach all his household the ways of the Lord. Joshua pledged that as for him and his house they would serve the Lord.

There is enough evidence to show that salvation of entire families is not impossible. In our culture we have erroneously said that in every house there is an odd person. That person is supposed to bring trouble to everyone. Because of that belief, this continues to happen in many homes. That statement is not from the Holy Spirit and we must desist from confessing it.

The truth about salvation in households is also evidenced in the above New Testament narrative. A Philippian jailor accepts Christ and he leads his family and household to follow suit.
This is a blessing every born-again person must claim for his/her family. Getting your family to be saved may not happen overnight; but for as long as you persevere in prayer for them, it will happen. God is still honoring prayers made for families to be saved.

GOD PARTNERS WITH HUMANITY

Genesis 18:17-19

_17 And the LORD said, “Shall I hide from Abraham what I am doing, 18 since Abraham shall surely become a great and mighty nation, and all the nations of the earth shall be blessed in him? 19 For I have known him, in order that he may command his children and his household after him, that they keep the way of the LORD, to do righteousness and justice, that the LORD may bring to Abraham what He has spoken to him.”_

It is interesting that the great God of the universe looks down, seeking humans He can partner with to accomplish His goals on earth for humanity. Sometimes it is unthinkable, considering the problems of humanity. See what God has to go through to get one person He can use. All of us are serious deviations from His Only begotten Son. In Jesus God had no hindrance. It was smooth sailing. All the men God had used on earth before Him had some limitation(s) which stood in the way of perfection.

In spite of all these, the beauty of it all is that God still likes to partner with humanity for His work on earth. It is not angels, but depraved humanity who often struggle to understand His ways that He uses on earth. This is where sovereignty and favor are at work. God acts in sovereignty and He favors all He chooses to use on earth. That pattern is fixed for as long as the earth remains.

What it means is that God is looking down to see if He can get someone yielded enough to partner with. See the question He asked before reasoning with Abraham concerning S***m and Gomorra. God is still asking the same question today. Can He find someone like Abraham, whom He can partner with to do some great work on earth? Can that person be you?

FRIDAY 25 FEBRUARY

PERFECT GOD PERFECTS YOUR WAYS

2 Samuel 22:31-35

_As for God, His way is perfect; The word of the LORD is proven; He is a shield to all who trust in Him. 32 “For who is God, except the LORD? And who is a rock, except our God? 33 God is my strength and power, and He makes my way perfect. 34 He makes my feet like the feet of deer, and sets me on my high places. 35 He teaches my hands to make war, so that my arms can bend a bow of bronze._

Everyone acknowledges that we are imperfect beings constantly struggling to get things right. Sometimes we get it right, and other times we experience great deviations from what is right. We need help to be able to navigate this life. That is where God comes in. His arms are open and He has a big heart ready to step into our situations and sustain us. Above all, He is a Perfect God.

In His perfection He makes our way perfect. That is the message from the psalmist for today. When we commit our ways to God, He knows how to make everything imperfect become perfect, and bring us breakthroughs. The truth is that many of us would rather handle our lives than leave it in the hands of a God who is able to do all things. It is for this reason we talk of frustration every day of our lives.
What I am talking about does not come by simply reading this devotional. It comes when you experientially place your life in God’s hands and ask Him to straighten your paths for you. He is always ready, waiting for those who would dare put their trust in Him; and He fights for them.

IN CHRIST ALL THINGS ARE NEW

2 Corinthians 5:17-19

_17 Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 18 Now all things are of God, who has reconciled us to Himself through Jesus Christ, and has given us the ministry of reconciliation, 19 that is, that God was in Christ reconciling the world to Himself, not imputing their trespasses to them, and has committed to us the word of reconciliation._

Newness in Christ is one of the truths that we often struggle to accept as reality. This is because after people have given their lives to Christ, they still indulge in habits and practices that make everyone question if they even have a knowledge of God. It is like nothing has happened to them.

What we have to understand is that the newness in Christ is not a human declaration. It is a divine ex*****on. It is God Himself who baptizes you in Christ. In Christ you are reconciled to God. It means that whatever has been following you for years loses their threats and ability to harm you.

You are no longer at the mercy of the devil. He cannot simply toss you about. The truth is that the devil knows that well. The problem is that the beneficiaries of newness in Christ are the ones who do not know, or have not come to real terms with the blessings of the shift from worldliness into Christ.

Your life as a Christian starts with the fact that God has accepted you. The past is all forgotten. God does not hold your past sins against you. He instead opens a new door for you to enter and enjoy the blessings that are yours. Walk on this clean plate God has given you.

GOD OF THE MOUNTAINS AND VALLEYS

Habakkuk 3:17-19

_Though the fig tree may not blossom, Nor fruit be on the vines; Though the labor of the olive may fail, And the fields yield no food; Though the flock may be cut off from the fold, And there be no herd in the stalls— 18 Yet I will rejoice in the LORD, I will joy in the God of my salvation. 19 The LORD God is my strength; He will make my feet like deer’s feet, And He will make me walk on my high hills._

It is common to talk about testimonies and to praise God when all things are going on as we expect. That is perfectly understandable; no one will say, “I have a testimony” and tell you how some money he had earned the hard way got stolen. That is always a sad situation and you are unlikely to give God praise in that situation.

Our vision of God is that He is God only on the mountain. The truth is, He is also God of the valley. That is the kind of truth the prophet Habakkuk wants to teach us in today’s passage. He was not living in denial. He did not say the fig tree is blossoming. He acknowledged the unpleasant state of affairs but refused to sing a song that consolidates that state of affairs.
He acknowledges a higher state than what everyone is seeing and that prompted a praise and honor unto God. This is praising God in the face of unfavorable circumstances, and that must constitute higher praise for us, not shouting and jumping when singing. You can always give God a higher praise in the most disturbing circumstances. The God of the mountain is still the God of the valley. Cheer up, He is always near.

EXPERIENCING THE IMPOSSIBLE

Luke 18:24-27

_24 And when Jesus saw that He became very sorrowful, He said, “How hard it is for those who have riches to enter the kingdom of God! 25 For it is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle than for a rich man to enter the kingdom of God.” 26 And those who heard it said, “Who then can be saved?” 27 But He said, “The things which are impossible with men are possible with God.”_

A close look at the life Jesus lived on earth shows that there was nothing that looked impossible to Him. When Lazarus was dead, He said He was asleep. He spoke to a fig tree and the following day the disciples were shocked to see the tree obeyed Jesus’ declaration. When they thought they had finished fishing and got nothing, He commanded His disciples to cast their nets once again and they had a massive catch. I don’t even think Jesus was adding all the drama we add today when we are praying for someone who has a simple prolonged headache that is making them uncomfortable. There are too many impossibilities for us humans who do not depend on the grace of God.

In today’s passage it is about rich men entering the kingdom of God. One rich man went away very sad because he thought God’s expectations of him were too much to ask. The disciples appeared to have shared the same view; and Jesus had to intervene to teach them one truth every man on earth must know: there is nothing like an impossibility when it comes to God. If a man who was dead and buried for 4 days can come back to life at the call of Jesus then you know that with God nothing is impossible. Now look at the situation facing you and compare it to a man dead and buried for 4 days; which one is worse?

SHUN THE WORLD

James 4:3-5

_3 You ask and do not receive, because you ask amiss, that you may spend it on your pleasures. 4Adulterers and adulteresses! Do you not know that friendship with the world is enmity with God? Whoever therefore wants to be a friend of the world makes himself an enemy of God. 5 Or do you think that the Scripture says in vain, “The Spirit who dwells in us yearns jealously?”_

God called us out of darkness into His marvelous light, and made us ambassadors of His kingdom on earth. This simply means that we are expected to show to the world what God looks like, what God likes and what does not like. We are to demonstrate the qualities of God so the dark and lost world by seeing us will seek to know our God.

The sad thing is that whereas we are supposed to provide leadership for the world, we rather try to fit in to the world’s standards to get their approval. Pressure to live as the world lives is the new persecution for the believers in the 21st century, with secular humanism at the center. People are dethroning God and making themselves a god unto themselves. Christ-centeredness has been replaced by self-centeredness. God is reminding us that it is one of the reasons we sometimes ask things from Him and do not get what we ask for.

God is calling us to move away from a life of compromise, and standout as His children in a vile and crooked generation. People must know the difference, not by our loud noise-making, but by a consistent life of virtue, honesty and wholesome living in the face of prevailing evil. That is the acid-test for the committed Christian.
