Life coach Patrick Simiyu wonders why modern marriages don’t last, questions the role of empowerment, responsibility and submission.

“We never saw our parents hug. No kisses, no pet names, no flowers, no date nights. Nothing, yet their marriages stood the test of time. Today, couples post hugs and kisses everywhere, use all the sweet nicknames, fly each other to Mauritius and back, and still split by next year.”

“It’s starting to look like the more empowered a woman becomes, the more she equates submission in marriage with slavery. I don't mean to demonise women's empowerment. An empowered woman is a blessing to society at large. However, I'm just wondering, what is it that is eating us, friends?” Simiyu asked.
